1963 Avanti R1 with AC
Description
I've owned this Avanti for several years and it is time for someone else to take over stewardship. I don't believe it has ever been restored but has been well maintained over the years. It has new seat upholstery from Southeast Studebaker. The rear cross member has been replaced; the original surge tank has been replaced but is still with the car. I don't believe the paint is original but the color is. The dash has been replaced by one from Just Dashes. There was damage to the right front fender. The original radio was converted to AM/FM but does not work consistently. The clock is not working nor is the blower for the heater. If you know early Avantis, the heater is not needed but AC is and that works. Driver's door needs adjustment and the passenger side power window no longer works. It worked when I bought the car but now the motor whirs but the window doesn't move, must be a broken coupling of some sort
The car has just under 100,000 miles, runs strong, has good oil pressure and the brakes work properly. No rust in the body (it's fiberglass) and no significant rust underneath. When I bought the car I had it inspected by an old time frame shop and they found no problems.
In the photos I've tried to show the defects. The window sticker is, of course, a reproduction. The car is a great driver quality car that could be upgraded to show quality. I will include my collection of Avanti literature including shop and parts manuals, authenticity manual, "What the Shop Manual Doesn't Tell You"and many magazines.
I am willing to accommodate inspection and answer questions. I will cooperate with your shipper and the car can stay here to suit your schedule.
