Studebaker introduced the Avanti for the 1963 and 1964 Model Year.After Studebaker quit production in South Bend IN during the 1964 Model year, the Avanti was dropped.After Studebaker ended production at South Bend, the "Avanti" model name, tooling, and parts and plant space were bought by local Studebaker dealers, Nate and Arnold Altman and Leo Newman, who incorporated as Avanti Motor Corporation and hand-built a small number of cars per year.
