Description

I purchased this 1985 Brat with approx. 112K miles and have only put 9K miles on it in over 7 years, although I drive it to work most every day, but it is only 5 miles round trip. It is a good running vehicle and fun to drive especially in the snow. I use it as the small truck that it is. If I have something to haul and it fits with the tailgate down it goes in. It is not a garage or trailer queen. When I bought it the body had been redone, not professionally but was presentable, and was neat looking due to the Smurf color which I liked.
Engine and drive train is in good condition. The 4 wheel drive works fine and the “shift on the fly” makes it very functional. Overall the Brat runs well but does have it’s peculiarities. The column ignition switch is only used to supply power and a button on the dash is pushed for ignition, the brake light stays on when the outside temperature is above @ 65 degrees although everything is fine and has never been a problem. It is equipped with air conditioning but not working. Tires are very good (I would call them an 8 out of 10 with @ 2000 miles on them). The clutch only has 3000 miles on it but it has and since install has had a quick release, once you learn the clutch feel it’s fine.
Body and paint.......Has some minor dings and scratches but not bad. You can see some of the imperfections in the photos. By far the worst problems with the body is the fender over the passenger rear wheelwell, as seen in the pictures. The under body has some issues but is still ok and the vehicle is PA state inspected thru March 2018. The rear seats, with pistol grips, are installed and are in very good condition with seatbelts included. The bed topper comes with it, unfortunately the clear coat on the topper is peeling and should be redone.
Interior...... The dash is not cracked and in nice condition. There is one line crack in the gauges plastic cover as can be seen in photos. A/C vents have become brittle and have some chipped louvers. Seats are in good structural shape, however the drivers’ seat upholstery needs repaired/recovered.All glass and removable T-tops (which do not leak) are in good condition. all instrumentation and gauges work. The heater works fine as does the radio.

If you are looking for a basic original in perfect condition, this is not it. It’s a good functional vehicle that I’d drive anywhere but it is 33 years old and needs more care then I put into it since I have several other toys that I prefer to spend time on. Most car buffs will understand this dilemma.
Vehicle is sold "as is" with no warranty. Buyer is responsible for shipping or can pick it up. A $300 paypal deposit is required within 2 days of auction close. PA Title is clear and in my name. I have tried to be open concerning the vehicles’ condition and appearance, if you have any questions please ask. I have many other pictures showing condition of undercarriage, etc but can only post 12 with write-up, contact me if you would like more pictures. I reserve the right to end listing if sold locally.
