Description
Nice stock condition 1988.5 Samurai. Runs good, very little rust, and all accessories like 4WD and lighting work. The AC is disconnected, but all equipment is in place.
Recent work includes a new soft top, Master cylinder seals, plugs, wires, dist cap/rotor, air filter & oil change. Tires are very good with 90% of tread remaining.
Interior seating surfaces have a lot of wear with several tears in both front and rear seats.
There is minimal rust overall, but there are some areas to note and are pictured as well. There are small rust bubbles behind both rear wheels and a spot on the tailgate that was surface rusted. I cleaned those areas with Naval jelly and painted over with touchup paint simply to keep water out.
Running condition is good, but could use some attention. It starts up and idles good at 900rpm's, but this will increase to 1200 or so when fully warmed up. It also seems a little rough above 4K RPM's, but is smooth and powerful below that. I tested compression when changing plugs and all cylinders are between 153 and 165lbs, so the engine seems healthy. It doesn't smoke any, but will leave a few drops after being driven, doesn't leak when just sitting.
The transmission shifts through all gears fine, but it does have a tendency to pop out of third gear when decelerating, but that's not an issue if you keep your hand on the shift lever. It does not pop out of any gear under acceleration. 4WD engages as it should and works fine in both H and L.
Please contact me with any questions before the auction ends, I'm happy to talk about it and don't want anybody disappointed.
