Description

We are parting with our beloved 1986 Toyota Van Wagon, VIN JT4YR29V6G5028871. This was a lucky barn find for us. It had been in a storage unit for years. True to form, it started up with very little trouble. It has the 2.2l engine, MANUAL transmission with 88,538 original miles! This is a rare van, it's a cargo van (with the coveted leaf springs so it can carry more weight) but it has windows! windows. It was customized by DMR Conversions into a light camper, then customized more by us, ready for fun, with .....
A full-sized bed, roof racks, 1 Renogy 100 Watts 12 Volts Monocrystalline Solar Panel, deep cycle Optima Blue Top Batterie, Power TechON PS1005 Pure Sine Wave Inverter. Foxwing OzWing WRAPAROUND AWNING! (with a LED kit and extra panel). Keep everything charged and running on the road. We even ran our Engel 12V fridge with this system. There are also seat covers and our custom gold-repaired dashboard (in Japan, special items are repaired with gold, the repair becoming part of its story). Also there are dinosaurs!
This is a very straight example of a vanwagon. Little to no rust underneath (cosmetic only).
All ORIGINAL GLASS and the body is in great shape.
This van has spent most of its life in a garage or storage. There are little issues here and there that you will want to tinker with. It is a 30-year-old van, so that's to be expected. There's no radio, and no AC, and it needs an emergency brake cable. It has the very common issue of heat soak (if you run it a long time in very hot weather, the fuel in the engine turns to vapor, and the engine has to cool off before it will restart) which was never a problem for us.
We are not interested in parting this van out....also in no hurry to sell it. It is a great example of a Toyota Vanwagon. It is FUN TO DRIVE and will TURN HEADS! It's been a super-reliable, comfortable little camper for us.
