Description

7/1984 FJ40 LX (NOT 1980 as listed, but Ebay does not realise that only America had the 17 digit VIN from 1981). I have owned her for 12 years. I bought her in Australia and we brought her to America with us when we moved here in 2013. In Australia she was my daily driver, but here she has always been a second car. She always lived in South Australia, which is a very dry part of Australia and has always been garaged. When we moved to the US we moved to New Mexico, where she has also always been garaged. We moved to Floridain July, and that is where she is now: not long enough to have suffered any ill effects from the relentless humidity. She has 97,000 miles and looks stunning.

The good: Very minimal rust. A very small amount just starting at the rear sill and that's it. Air conditioning with brand new Toyota compressor Power steering with synthetic ATF, H55 five speed, three wipers with factory intermittent function. Full LX interior with no tears, tachometer, front quarter windows, rear sliding windows and roll bar. All new factory Toyota door weather stripping, front turn signal assemblies and hood hooks (all factory Toyota, not CCOT stuff).CD player, Inclinometer, digital clock, Warn 8274-50 (I'll take $750 off winning bidif you don't want this included), OME springs with 33x10.50x15 BF Goodrich ATs, K&N air filter, snorkel, all LED lights with Hella H4 headlamps, fully rebuilt brakes with new disks, calipers and slave cylinders. Fully rebuilt axles with all new Toyota bearings on front and rear HJ61 axles with factory Toyota cable lockers. All new tie rod ends. This truck drives and tracks like a new car. New clutch master and slave cylinders. Leather wrapped steering wheel. New front factory Toyota window felt. Factory carb fully rebuilt by Jim Chenoweth. Transmission and transfer case shift perfectly and do not leak, the clutch engages perfectly and does not chatter. Filled with synthetic 75w90. Absolutely stunning aluminium roof rack by awl-TEQ. Receiver hitch and trailer wiring. Fully rebuilt rear drive shaft. Heated driver's seat. Brand new GM HEI distributor. Brand new stainless battery tray. Runs excellent on either petrol ("gasoline") or gas ("LPG") and can switch while driving with a small rocker switch next to the steering wheel.

The not-so good: -The cable lockers work great but I have not yet hooked them up to the interior handles -The engine leaks a bit of oil from the rear main seal and uses a minimal amount but runs really well -Everything works on this car except for the windscreen squirter. The washer tank holds fluid, but the pump has packed it in.The factory floor mat on the drivers'side has a small hole in it where my heel has worn through it. The seat belt on the driver's side is beginning to fray.

She drives like a new car and will not disappoint. I built her to keep her. I have owned many, many Cruisers ( I have been a member of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association since 1993 and am well known in the Land Cruiser community ) and she is by far my favourite. Unfortunately, family circumstances are such that I must sell her and this is to your advantage. I did not import her to sell her nor did I build her on the cheap to sell her. This was my Cruiser to keep for life and hand down to my son. Sadly, he and I will have to build another one day. She is located in Vero Beach, Florida and can be driven by appointment. I strongly encourage you to have her checked out, but I am confident any mechanic will be impressed (not withstanding the above-mentioned oil leak). No longer must you choose between icon and aircon. This is the last and the very best Land Cruiser Toyota ever built; an LX in all its rumoured splendor and relative opulence. I would consider a partial trade for an 87 Grand National or 69-70 GTO/firebird. More pictures and videos available upon request.
