1978 Toyota BJ40 (Wide) Only one in existence! Like FJ40
Description
Not many chances come by to have a "one off" classic vehicle, but here it is, and if you are into off-roading, this rig here is one of the most sought after classic off-road vehicles of all time. The one and only in the world, BJ40 "Wide" is up for auction to the highest bidder. It is complete except for the installation of the brand new Cruisair air conditioning system that will be included in this sale. It has a few very small flaws but is near the quality many classic collectors would appreciate. Originally being from Costa Rica, where it underwent a full restoration and the 6" wide body conversion in 2011, has allowed the frame and chassis to remain completely rust free! Pilgrim Restorations in Costa Rica, a world renowned Land Cruiser builder, decided to widen this particular BJ. It allowed for a much better stance, more stability, less chance of rollover and provided much more interior room. This is the way Toyota should have built the Land Cruiser. Every panel was built from scratch using an english wheel and no cutting and splicing of old parts were done. The entire body was fabricated during the build with amazing precision down to the spot welds. It's absolutely superb craftsmanship! The build was documented and a book was made with many facts and pictures of the creation including the build time of 1250 hours, the reason there will never be another. Build time alone at $70 per hour would cost $87500 USD.It would make someone a great 4 wheeler, weekend cruiser, or museum piece. The BJ diesel runs great and starts every time as long as you let the glow plugs do their job. The tranny and clutch are perfect, brakes are good, emergency brake functions, manual throttle is good, gauges all work, all lights work, and it has had a recent Texas inspection. The only drawback to this cruiser would be wanting to travel highway speeds. They were not built for 70 mph highways, doing good to hit 60, so do not buy this rig thinking you are going to hit the interstates for long distances. I have driven back and forth to work a few times and did a lot of getting over for faster traffic. It is perfect for in town driving and would make a great mountain area truck, a beach rig like the 30A in Florida or just a cruiser. It's what they are meant to do, hence the name! Please bid with confidence and please feel free to call with questions or visit it in person. Thanks for your interest in this Classic Toyota Land Cruiser. Sean 940-631-9274
