Description

Up for sale is a fantastic 1976 Toyota Corolla Liftback Deluxe. This all-original, unrestored car has only 44,000~ miles on it—not only on the odometer, but also verified with 40 years worth of maintenance records, which will be included. Auction also includes original owner's manual.

*Note: For more pictures of exterior than eBay allows, please scroll to bottom of auction. Also, I took photos on two different days last fall - the car has been in storage since and is in unchanged condition.

This is a two-owner car—the car was purchased new in at Burt Toyota of Englewood, Colorado (a suburb of Denver). This is the E-51 chassis and is equipped with the 1.6L 2T-C 8v overhead cam engine with a four-speed manual transmission.

This car drives and rides like a car with only 44,000~ miles on it—it runs very nicely. The paint is original. I’m certain that this car has been garaged most of its life—the back hatch still has a 1976 Bicentennial sticker on it – which is a nifty bit of history that comes with the car.I was told by the original owner that this car was purchased new as a second car for his wife's use--apparently she didn't use it very much. Themaintenancerecords show justabout 1,000 miles a year of use.

The exterior does have a few issues – a little rust on bottom of fender behind both front wheels. Otherwise, body is rust free. There is a minor crease/ding in the right front fender, only a 2-3” long. There are a few minor dings elsewhere on the body, but no serious areas of damage.I have attempted to include the dings in the photographs, but they don’t show up well with the white paint. Some scratches and small chips have been repaired in the past with white paint. The rubber (?) doorbumpers on the sides of the doors are faded to black with age.

Window glass is in great shape, with no cracks or notable damage.

The driver’s side mirror does not appear stock and is a different style than the passenger’s side mirror, which appears stock.

The interior is remarkable—the awesome brown/yellow plaid fabrics are bright and look great. The vinyl door cards and the various plastic parts of the interior look great, with only a minor scuff or mark here and there (exceptions noted below).Every person that I have shown this car to has loved the interior.

Issues in the interior: The dash has cracked, and is covered by a brown carpet cover. The driver’s seat does have a tear in the vinyl on the left side of the seat. The carpet under the back hatch as faded from brown to a beigish color, as have some of the plastic bits back there. There is a little compartment door on the center console of the dash that doesn’t like to stay shut—the previous owner put some Velcro on it, but it doesn’t stay shut all the time. The plastic covering the A-pillar on the driver’s side has a crack in it.

The AC and heat work nicely.

The glass is all clear with no cracks or chips.

The car is peppy and fun to drive—it handles well and there are no concerning noises. The brakes work well. The emergency brake works well.

The headlights and taillights work well.Ijust found out that the brake lights are not coming on—it is likely just a fuse.

The tires are somewhat vintage, but have great tread left.

Mechanically, the car is totally sound. It starts up very well.I have maintenance records from the time the car was purchased, and it was regularly brought it for services and tune-ups.The car passes emissions in Colorado.

This is an awesome, low mileage example of a classic Toyota—these are getting harder and harder to find!
