1966 Toyota Land Cruiser - Full Body Off Restoration (stainless nuts/bolts)
Description
Up for bid is my 1966 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40. I bought it several years ago to restore and then enjoy. My plan was to keep it stock and looking like its first purchase in 66. As I worked through the process of tearing it down and then rebuilding from the frame up, I decided to keep it the stock original Toyota 1028 Spring Green color. I also did the entire rebuild replacing the nuts and bolts with stainless steel throughout, as well as other stainless hardware. It has taken me most of three good years to do the work. I had a lot of help from Classic Cruisers in Salida, Colorado. I bought most of my parts from Cruiser Corp, and Spector Off Road.
*** I have over 200 additional pictures of the rebuild. Just ask and I'll send you the link (Ebay no longer allows me to post it here)
And, I posted a short 52 second video on You Tube called "66 cruiser" that shows the shifting of three on the tree, and how smoothly it runs.
The Rebuild includes:
-Work done by Classic Cruisers: 1) complete body sandblasting, 2) cutting out and new metal repair of all rust, 3) filling in extra holes that were not needed, 4) Applying a spray on liner to the underside of the body for rust protection, 5) Powder Coating the 5 original wheels the stock dark gray color, 6) Providing many of the original 1966 parts for the restore.
-Paint: Body work, prep, self etching primer, and beautiful single stage paint job (stock Toyota 1028 Spring Green) using PPG single stage paint. The cruiser was completely disassembled and each piece was prepped, primed (with self etching primer), and sprayed separately, so that I could put everything back together fully painted.
-Upholstery: The rear jump seats already came to me with nearly new upholstery. I had the front seats completely redone by a local upholstery shop here in Paradise, CA. He used high-grade extra durable boat foam that keeps its firmness longer, and stays comfortable.
