1982 Toyota Pickup Hilux, Long Bed
Description
This 1982 Pickup runs well, is original in a lot of ways, has low miles on the clock, has service records going back to 1982, and has proven itself reliable and economical. It’s driving great and getting between 25 and 28 MPG around town. It was bought originally in San Bernardino, CA, and spent the majority of its life in Albuquerque, New Mexico before we brought it to Utah 2 years ago.
The truck sat out in the NM sun for several years. It got a budget paint job and stereo install in 2005. At about 108K miles the 2nd owner removed the instrument cluster and somehow broke the speedometer needle off. He purchased a used cluster and replaced the original with it. Fortunately he photographed the mileage on the “new” and original odometers which allows us to calculate current mileage.
The original 22R is going smooth and strong. The transmission shifts well in all gears. All original engine-related systems are functioning well and have been repaired and maintained, nothing removed. Transmission and rear differential fluid changed in 2014. Brake and clutch fluids flushed June 2016. Coolant replaced 6/17. New radiator 10/14, and new battery 4/17. The heat and ventilation controls work like they should, the only exception being the low fan speed not working. The truck’s sheet metal and frame are in great shape. It was obviously never wrecked - straight and no filler. The doors open and close nicely.
