Land Cruiser Nationis proud to offer this 1975Land Cruiser FJ40 with no reserve. The owner has purchased another Land Cruiser and only has room for one. This truck is owned by a pilot and after working with other FJ40 owners that fly for a living, I can tell you they are some of the most maintenance-conscience owners I've had the pleasure of working with.
This FJ40 spent her life on a ranch in Montana. The original owner blew the motor in 1988 and stored the truck in his shop. After several years, the ownersgrandson acquired it and sold it to a friend who in turn sold it toa restoration shopin WY in 2017. The goal was to sort the FJ40 mechanically andcosmetically while maintaining the originality and patina of this low miles survivor.
The odometer reads49,810 miles and was verified by the original owner to be the actual miles having sat for so many years. She still hasmuch of her original equipment including brake master cylinder and booster, clutch master, radiator, smog, etc.
The engine was replaced with a 2F from a 1978 FJ40 that was rebuilt from the bottom up using some components and smog equipment from the original engine. The transmission was rebuilt as well.
The truck had an auxiliary fuel tank which was removed and access door hole was cut out and new metal welded in and the paint work was blended. Additional body work was competed to weldtwo bolt holes in the driver's side of the tub in front of the tire. This was also blended to preserve as much original paint as possible. The previous owner had a speaker installed inthis location. All the paint was cut and buffed with a 3-stage 3M product.
The hard top and windshield frame were taken from a 1977 FJ40 which added the “wing windows” in the back to this FJ40. A new headliner and new OEM Toyota weatherstrippingwere installed.
The undercarriage was steam-cleaned and verified to be free of rust before being undercoated to prevent any rust from occurring in the future. A new exhaust system was addedand a Pro Comp 2.5" lift. The truck rides on brand new BFG 31x10.50R15 Mud Terrain TA KM2's wrapped around OEM Toyota gray steel wheels with stock hubcaps, including the spare.
The seat frames were blasted and painted and new vinyl upholstery from Cruiser Corps was installed.
The current owner has done additional work including a completely new fuel system, with new OEM Toyota fuel tank, fuel tank sender, fuel filter, fuel pumpand all new hard and soft lines.
The truck comes with a new freshly paintedTAILGATEand hardware that will look great when your running with the top off!
A new-old-stock year-correct Aisin carburetor has been installed (it started on the first attempt). All vacuum lines were removed and replaced with OEM Toyota lines and connectedaccording to the 1975 emission manual. The owner most recentlyreplaced the transfer case output seal.
New 3-point front seat belts from Cruiser Corps. Replaced front door locks, ambulance door lock, fuel door lock, and ignition cylinder lock with OEM Toyota. One key now opensfront doors and fuel door as well as ignition. Separate key for ambulance door which is factory correct.
The truck is really in great, original condition and has been sorted out and driven often in the last year. As with all survivors you will find a few small dings, scrapes bumps and bruises here and there. These are pictured in the Photo Gallery at the link below. Theoriginal jack is included. All gauges work. Parking brake light works. Both the front and rear heaters work well. Wipers work along with the windshield washers. The truck starts right up andidles smooth. Drum brakes work well and pull straight. "They are only original once!" This is a good one!
