Description

Beautiful HJ61 from Japan, super fun truck.
Has an import VIN that isnt compatible with EBAY: HJ61010562
-136K mi (219,xxx km) on the clock
-most desirable turbo-diesel 12HT engine
-automatic trans
-factory manual locking front and rear diffs
-3" lift (lift was installed in japan so not sure of the make)
-33" BFGs with 60% tread left
-new Blaupunkt head unit with GPS
-interior is 8 out of 10 - very clean for an '88, dash has a well executed re-cover job, seats and carpet are in great shape, and they have the "TURBO" upholstery which I love
Since I've had it:
-entire fuel system run through - gas tank dropped and cleaned, flushed fuel lines, injectors and injector pump cleaned
-new brake pads and rear drums / shoes-new tie rod ends
-turbo run through and adjusted - pulls strong
-all fluids changed
Issues:-passenger side window switch needs replacement (just that switch - the master on the drivers side still moves the window up and down-blows white smoke on cold start when temp is below freezing -burns off within a minute
-diff lock cables need replacing, existing ones are frozen
-power antenna intermittently doesn't retract, sometimes needs a little help
-moon roof motor gear is stripped (its closed fully and doesn't leak)-washer fluid bottle is cracked and needs replacing-steering drag link is worn, clicks when turning right and needs replacing
-rust: small spots forming on right rain gutter, more significant spots on right front quarterpanel in three places -along hood line, below side marker, and at back of wheel well
If you don't already know these vehicles:
This is like the FJ60 and 62 American Land Cruiser, but it hasthe high-roof bodythat was only available in Japan, Australia, and a handful of other countries but not in the US. Also known as the Sahara. They were all manufactured with RIGHT HAND DRIVE. I admit I was nervous to buy a RHD vehicle, but within a couple hours of driving I got used to it and now its as natural as breathing.
I love this truck, at firstI planned to build it up as an overlander but then moved to an 80 seriesand had full intention to dial this one in and maintain it as my pet classic. It has mostly been my around town weekend vehicle, fun to drive, turns lots of heads, pushbutton 4wd works great.Priorities have changed and now I am selling because I'm buying a house.
