I purchased the MR2 in Austin a short time ago to use as a weekend fun car. Life changes dictate that I need to make room for a more practical vehicle. I've made some improvements in the way of maintenance and upgrades, but the MR2 remains largely original, unmolested and in remarkably good shape for the age and mileage. The engine runs fantastic, no leaks and does not use oil. The gearbox shifts great as the cables and fluid were recently changed; no grinds or popping, no fluid leaks on this car whatsoever, temp gauge always stays cool, heater and A/C both work great, no rust whatsoever on vehicle, electronics in the car all work great (even the clock). The interior was in great shape when I purchased the car with the exception of the driver's seat which needs to be reupholstered. T-top seals are in great shape (see close up photos.)
Recent maintenance and upgrades include...
Suspension: New front upper ball joints and new front tie rod ends, New BC Coil-overs, 4 corner alignment
Mechanicals: Fresh oil change 500 miles ago, Transmission fluid flush, throttle body removal and clean, OEM shifter cables replacement
Aftermarket: New Braum S8 seats with seat rails and sliders, New 330mm Personal Blitz Steering Wheel, Weighted Shift Knob, clear JDM style front marker lights
Have original steering wheel and shift knob that will be included. The original leather seats are bulky, so the new owner will be responsible to have them transported, but they are included in the sale if desired.
Flaws are few. The airbag light is on due to aftermarket wheel which of course has no integral airbag, fuel gauge will show ¾ of the way full on a full tank, original driver’s seat leather is torn and foam in exposed, dash is warped on passenger side (very common on these cars), but dash material is in fantastic shape, the rear bumper, rear spoiler and area of the roof around the T-tops are faded and the clear-coat is pealing. Otherwise the mostly original paint is very good; just the typical dings and scratches seen on most 27 year old vehicles.
These cars are becoming increasingly hard to find in good shape, and this one has been well taken care of. There is no reason I know of why the MR2 can not be driven anywhere. Please ask any questions you have BEFORE choosing "Buying it Now" or submitting an offer. Inspections of the vehicle are welcome before close of listing. Vehicle and vehicle title will be released upon payment in full.
