1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 – Ford 351 V8, C6 Trans, Dana 300 Twin-Stick
Hello,
Up for sale is my 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60.This is a unique rig due to it having a Ford 351W V8 and accompanying C6 transmission/drivetrain. The vehicle is in great overall shape as you can see but does have a few little things to follow-up on and get sorted if the next owner is willing to do so.
I acquired this vehicle a year ago locally. The V8 and drivetrain swap had been done several owners ago. The vehicle had been sitting for some time and I put some time and money into it getting it to where it is now.The biggest issue then was the bad gas, so I drained the old fuel, cleaned the system, and rebuilt the carburetor. It runs and drives good but I would suggest tuning in the carb for final adjustments as I have not yet done that (or better yet, throw on a new fuel injection system as they aren’t much money now)
It’s a great looking clean Fj60 that is not a show piece by any means, but a real nice decently shaped rig.
Features worth noting:
-Ford 351 V8 engine that is built up to 400 HP via cams, alum heads, and full roller valvetrain, 10:1 pistons, shorty headers, Edelbrock carb
-Fully built C6 transmission, B&M shifter, Art Carr trans-cooler
-Twin-stick Dana 300 transfer case w/32 spline output shaft, 1310 U joints
-35” tires with aluminum wheels
-4” suspension lift w/shackle reversal
-Ron Davis radiator, dual SPAL fans (new relay recently installed)
-I freshened up the front end with all new tie-rods, steering arms, and steering stabilizer.
-I also replaced the grille, headlights, and some chrome as the old parts were aged
-New interior heater blower motor
Some items that need attention:
-The tachometer was never hooked up when the V8 was swapped
-There is A/C, but it needs to be charged and checked after that
-Trans has a drip leak
-The speedometer was never hooked up (need to find a Toyota to C6 speedometer cable converter) (so this essentially means unknown miles)
-Brakes are okay, but it may not be a bad idea to go over them and flush the fluid
-Driver’s seat has an ugly hole in it. I do have a spare oem seat cover that I bought for the material alone, but it’s not in great shape. The rest of the interior is in real decent shape as you can see.
-There is an amp and large speaker box in the back that’s wired up, but needs to be checked.
-The gas gauge may be off (I learned this the hard way last week and ran out gas, oops)
The body as you can see is in really good shape. There was a small rust hole in the rear fender area that I fixed, but the paint is still very shiny and waxes up nicely, even from 5 feet away.It is a show piece? No. But it certainly is a sharp and unique rig! There are a few other small areas of bubbling that I have pointed out in the pics.
In summary, this is a great FJ60 that is great shape for being 36 years old. It’s not a perfect OEM FJ60, but then again those can fetch some money ($20k-30k). I have this priced really reasonably in my opinion and the reserve is not too far off from my starting price.
