Currently, this FJ73 has a clean Florida title and comes with digital copies of U.S. Customs clearance paperwork for reference. This Land Cruiser was imported February 2019 and resided in Florida until August 2019.
The exterior of this Toyota Land Cruiser FJ73 was resprayed while in Columbia. The finish remains fully intact with no signs of major corrosion or haphazard body work. The lines are smooth and consistent and the seams are complete. There are some signs of paint chips, minor scuffs and scratches and segments of touch-up paint where the clear and base coat were nicked down to primer. There is also a subtle impression on the passenger-side rear quarter where touch-up paint has been applied and can only be seen in certain lighting conditions.
Overall, the exterior shows incredibly well. The color-matched, removable, fiberglass FRP hardtop is in nice shape and still fastened by OEM mounting hardware. There are no leaks of any kind and all mounting points are fully preserved. The factory emblems have been riveted in place to deter potential theft when this FJ73 resided in Columbia. The factory keyed locks were removed for the same reason and replaced with a fully functional remote locking system.
All glass appears to be factory Toyota except for the windshield. All window and door seals are present. The windshield seal has a small tear on the passenger side and there is a small section of corrosion just above the passenger windshield wiper and directly below the driver’s side window split. The flip down windshield hinges are in nice shape and covered by OEM plastic guards.
All factory trim and accessories are present including mud flaps, bumper ends, chrome mirrors, steel running boards, rear pintle hitch, full size spare with sprayed OEM wheel, chrome Toyota wheels with center caps, tool set and an aftermarket bottle jack.
The interior appears to have been reupholstered using factory grade vinyl finishes on the seating and floors as well as OEM grade vinyl paneling throughout. All interior electronics work as they should including the dash-mounted altimeter, manual crank operated windows, heat and fully charged A/C, cluster gauges, 4WD indicator lights, dash lights and aftermarket touchscreen Sony head unit. The floors under the vinyl mats are in very nice condition with no signs of corrosion or rot.
The seats adjust as they should and the rear seat folds and flips up to accommodate more storage if needed. The sliding rear windows open and close with ease. The rear seat does not have seat belts installed currently, but they can be added if the rear bench needs to be utilized. The front seats have fully functional safety belts.
The entire frame and engine bay are in great shape. The underside is free from rust from the frame to the floor pans. All brake lines have been replaced and the front end has been rebuilt. The front disc brakes and rear drums are nearly new as are the Aisin manual hubs.
A new battery was installed less than a year ago and all hoses, clamps and belt are in excellent condition. The power steering functions flawlessly without hesitation. The rebuilt carburetor is tuned perfectly and cold starts are a breeze. The coolant was just replaced with Toyota red and the oil, filter and air filter were also just replaced. The differential, transmission and transfercase fluids were also just checked and viscosity tested. The brake and clutch fluids both appear to be very clean and replaced not too long ago.
This Toyota Land Cruiser FJ73 drives incredibly well down the road. Start-up and idle are sound. City and highway driving are smooth and there’s more than enough power to consistently drive 110-115 kms/hr on Maine’s hilly highways and achieving 120-130 kms/hr is a non-issue on flats.
A state of Maine inspection was just issued for this FJ73 and it passed without issue. This Land Cruiser would make a great daily driver in both hot and cold climates and offers quite a unique drivetrain and body style combination, which is on the more rare side in the US.
The chassis has just over 225,000 miles (363,000 kms) and the rebuild has an estimated 8,000 miles.
