Description

I have up for sale my extremely low mileage 1985 Toyota 4wd pickup. People use the words rare, and clean all to often, I try not too. That being said, best of luck finding a North American version of this highly sought after pickup with such low miles in this condition. This was a true barn find, hiding in the Carolinas. It was purchased by the 90 year old little old lady that when new. Health conditions long sidelined her from driving it. Off to the barn it went, and it got little use from there.
The truck is equipped with the highly coveted 22R 4 cylinder engine (carb version), with 5 speed manual transmission. Options on the pickup are more or less essentials. It is a DLX version, so it gets rubber floor, standard door panels, non sliding rear glass, and vinyl bench seat. It does have highly desirable factory equipped air conditioning, SR5 sport wheels, am/fm radio, cigarette lighter, and decals. For me, in my opinion it's optioned perfectly. All accessories and systems work exactly as they should.
Mechanically the truck is as sound as they come. It starts cold perfectly, makes no strange noises, and drives nicely. It has great road manners all around. This is a turn key truck, you can just buy and drive if that's what you wish to do with it. Tires, brakes, and fluids are excellent. Oil will be changed before it's picked up.
Exterior is excellent as you can see, no more than rock chips anywhere on the paint. There are no dents, it's never had dents, and it's also never had rust. If you look inside the bed, you can see none of the screws or cadmium coated tailgate pieces have not been painted over. The bed has had little use at all, and is showing no wear. The truck was disassembled and went in for a complete repaint about three years ago. The factory simgle stage paint was very thin, had worn through in some places, and was also showing some scratches. It got a high end base clear paint job, and new factory decals reinstalled. This was an exterior paint job only, no inside of bed was done, nor were jams or under hood. It's nearly impossible to tell the exterior was repainted by looking at it from the outside of it. Everything on the exterior of the truck was removed, not masked off. The cost for exterior repaint alone was 4k, plus decals, and at a later date I had the inside of the bed done because there were some minor scratches in the bed bottom. As you can tell, I went through the trouble of making sure the inside of the bed was detailed out properly. I had them paint the bed walls behind the removable double wall panels. You may not know this, the beds were painted new with those panels in place. New, they did not have paint behind the panels, only primer. Hence why many have rust through in those areas. All in all, there has been $5400 spent on the exterior of the truck alone to maintain its original grandeur. I had all 5 wheels blasted, and powder coated white again as well. Also, in reguards to the exterior. You'll notice a ToyoGuard decal on the windshield. That means it was sprayed with ToyoGuard undercoating at the dealer when new. That's why the underside is nice and black still. No additional undercoating has been added since new, the frame and underpinnings are all in perfect condition. The interior is 100% original, and in excellent condition with little wear. The steering wheel even retains all of its original grain on it. None of it has been rubbed off from driving, that never lasts long. The interior is one of the best originals I've ever seen.
