Description

1970 Toyota Land Cruiser Soft Top

Welcome to AdventureMotorCar's online listing. You are looking at a FRAME OFF RESTORED 1970 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. This FJ40 underwent a complete frame off restoration 3,400 miles ago (I have over 100 photographs documenting the restoration). It was built in Hobe Sound, Florida in 2010 and then traveled across country to TLC in 2011 for a full mechanical overhaul.Restoration included taking the body completely apart, stripping down each panel, and all panels were primed, seald, and base clear coated. The entire frame was sanded, primed and painted with 2K poly black paint. The underside of the panels were coated with a black rubberized coating to prevent any future corrosion. The doors were upgraded to a a pair of 1982 FJ40 front doors (much better than the doors than came on a '70 model year). New door side mirror assemblies. Over 90% of the bolts, washers, and nuts were replaced with full threaded stainless steel and all other bolts, washers, and nuts that were not replaced got restored, painted, and yellow plated. Other new exterior options include new front bumper, rear bumperettes, OEM emblems, hood rest pads, front turn signals, and more>The engine was upgraded to the 2F six cylinder. ALL ENGINE WORK WAS DONE AT TLC. TLC inspected the drivetrain, replaced the engine, rebuilt the engine, and installed a new brake cable, battery, clutch, flywheel, and water pump. Aesthetically, they powdercoated the wheels, replaced the tires, and replaced the hub caps. Lastly they performed some minor electrical repairs. The total bill at TLC was $15,866.22.The transmission was upgraded to a completely rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission (this is a big upgrade from the three speed on the column). The transfer case was also rebuilt. The cooling system is new and included new radiator, hoses, water pump, and thermostat. The undercarriage included a restored frame, new tie rod ends, rebuilt front and rear axles (new bearings, seals, and gaskets), new shocks, and larger shackles. The braking system was upgraded to 4 wheel disc brakes. The exhaust system is new and includes a Dynamax muffler. The interior features a restored heater, restored front seats (out of a 1988 Land Cruiser), restored rear jump seats, new pedal pads, and more.
