The Elusive Survivor!

We've all seen beautifully restored classic automobiles. The body comes off, the enginecomes out, the interior is redone and every part of the vehicle is evaluated, refurbished orreplaced before reassembly. These efforts come with descriptions like "no expense spared"and "better than new". The end results can be visually stunning and financially staggering!

Then there's that "other" genre of classic automobiles. They have the mystique and magicof objects that time has somehow forgotten. You won't hear about the extensive restoration,it hasn't occurred. Like an enigma that has somehow turned back the hands of time, lovingly cared for or, in some cases, sparingly reserved for special occasions.

"Survivors"appear to be experiencing a new found appreciationamong auto enthusiasts. Survivors may not be perfect, yetthat is, in many cases, what makes them perfect. They havetranscended the boundary of time and escaped an onslaughtof use and abuse. Where the others have failed, they havesomehow prevailed. Their owners may have taken them outof the game early or perhaps just had the wisdom to maintain, appreciate and protect whatthe manufacturer designed and built so many years ago. This is a rare occurrence, especially when it comes to rugged utilitarian vehicles that were meant for work!

ONE IN A MILLION.

Of the millions of Land Cruiser's Toyota built worldwide, roughly three hundred FJ40‘s were built for export to the USA in 1983 which was the final year the FJ40 was available in the United States. Of those three hundred, fifty were ordered with factory power steering and air conditioning. Of those fifty, I estimate ten ended up with wing windows on the front doors. When you consider she's still wearing most her original paint and her "survivor status", this 1983 FJ40 is one in a million.

Land Cruiser Nationis selling this 1983 FJ40 for a customer. I have personally seen and driven this truck in the past. In 2011 this truck was in Tulsa, OK. It was purchased by a customer/collector in Iowa and I sold it for him a few years later to the current owner in New Mexico. Some of the photos are from Oklahoma and some are from New Mexico. There are several photos if you click on the link below. The truck has spent much of the past 5 years in storage and driven sparingly.

Built in July of 1983, this FJ40 began her journey in Houston Texas at Don McGill Toyota. She's a survivor and a beautiful example of a stock unrestored 1983 FJ40 wearing mostly original paint. The hood and front fenders were a little faded so the owner had them paintedin 2011. There are no signs of any body work or rust repair. The only rust that is evident are a few small blisters on top of the wheel tubs in the rear cargo area. She has both factory power steering and factory air conditioning and was rustproofed when new. Having alwaysbeen garaged, the truck remains in excellent condition with just a few minor bumps and bruises thathave been touched up.Under the hood is the originalengine 2F with factory emissions. Original transmission with 3.70 gears, stock suspension, axles, etc. Correct OEM whitespoke wheels, factory Aisin freewheeling hubs.

The interior is clean and original.Over the years, the drivers seat had a split and wasreupholstered. The passenger seat was perfect but it was reupholstered to match. The headliner was sagging and was replaced. The dash pad is original and in perfect condition. The truck has original floor mats both front and rear which sell for thousands these days.

Mechanically excellent, she's been well maintained and driven very sparingly in the last decade. The power steering pump seal was recently replaced. The A/C blows cold and has been converted to R134A.Everything works, turnsignals, lights, wipers, washers, taillights, backup lights, license plate lights, side markers and all gauges work, even thedome light. The hard top doesn't appear to have ever been removed. The 31x10.50 Radial tires have less than 1500 miles on them.

This old school 4WD serves up an awesome combination of off-roading prowess. Toyota factory steering makes driving this FJ40 effortless. Front disc and rear drum brake combination will bring all you to a quick and uneventful stop. The color is the original Toyota Olive (paint code 653)

If you're looking for a rare and cool classic that's fun, unique and ready to hit the road, this is it!

The quality of this FJ40 is extreme and it is the most sought after Land Cruiser Toyota ever produced.High bidder is responsible for pick up or delivery, I will assist in any way I can. I require a $500 Paypal deposit within 24 hours and a wire transfer of the balance within 5 business days.I encourage you to call or email with any questions BEFORE BIDDING and thanks for looking!
