1991 MR2 NA (“normally aspirated” - non-turbo)
This is a very nice 1991 MR2 with only 115,000 miles on it. If you are unfamiliar with MR2s, the engineering Toyota put into the design is fantastic. The engine is between the axles, resulting in a nearly even balance between the front and rear tires. The car handles like it is on a rail. It is powered by a super-dependable 2.2 liter 4 cylinder Camry-like engine that has plenty of power yet still gets good mileage and can go 300,000 miles.
My car is almost entirely stock except for Koni shocks and an updated radio and a separate equalizer. I am the second owner, having put about 30,000 care-free miles on it. The car has been meticulously maintained with a clutch replacement at about 95K because the original owner had a tendency to "ride the clutch." The car is tight, rattle free, pretty, and handles like a dream. It is accident-free. No rust anywhere. Everything works (including the A/C).
While this is a truly fine car, it is 25 years old and bound to have a few discrepancies. Here’s the list: the original red paint is faded in spots, and there is minor peeling of the clearcoat on the window pillar. There are some touched-up spots on the front bumper from a minor skirmish with a Honda some years ago. I have Yokohama ES100 tires on it that should be refreshed.
On the plus side, it has a full size spare, recent tune-up, and oil & filter change. I also have an extra set of wheels which I will throw in if you want them. I have a canvas cover for it too if interested.
I’m selling it only because I have more cars than garages. Breaks my heart.
