Description

General: This is a clean, honest, one adult owner (no children) car that was purchased new in Birmingham, Alabama and has never traveled outside of the Southeast United States. It has been garaged most of its life. It has served as a second car for the past several years but it no longer runs. We think it is a blown head gasket but the engine, while well-maintained, is original and it has over 230,000 miles on it. It was due for some work anyway.

Mileage: Odometer works. It reads approximately 231,655. We know this to be correct because we have had the car since new.

Exterior Body: The exterior is fairly clean and straight. There is a minor dent in the front left fender by the wheel well. There are a few scratches and chips on the bumpers. The paint is getting chalky on the horizontal surfaces. There is a small dent in the roof where a branch fell on it. There is no rust and never has been. Color is white with dark gray pinstripe.

Underbody: Very clean. This car has never traveled outside of the Southeast. It has never seen salty roads.

Glass: It’s all there and perfectly clear. No cracks, scratches, fogging, or delamination. Power window regulators all work as designed.

Weather Sealing: Perfectly intact. The car does not leak air or water.

Electrical: Every light on the car works. No lenses are broken. Wiring seems to be okay. The heater, defroster, and rear defogger work as designed. A/C has been converted to R134 but it no longer holds a charge. Wipers, cruise control, power antenna all work just fine.

Dashboard: The tachometer does not read accurately. The temperature gauge sending unit will need to be replaced. Radio and cassette deck work fine. Has aftermarket Sirius unit but the subscription has lapsed. Shift indicator lamp in the cluster that indicates “D” does not work; all others are fine. Gauge faces are clear and easily read during the day or at night. There are no cracks or splits in the dash padding. SRS light came on when we changed the battery. We have never had it reset; therefore, the airbag probably does not work. Hope you never have to find out.

Interior: The interior is gray cloth. It is all clean and in excellent condition except for the driver’s seat which shows some wear, stretching, and dirt. Headliner is perfect. Carpeting is remarkably clean. No heavy stains, burns, or wear. This car has never been smoked in. No odd odors. Door panels look brand new. All switchgear (windows, locks, mirrors) works as designed.

Brakes: Front disc/Rear drums work fine. Rubber hoses have been changed. Fluid flushed. No leaking.

Engine: 2.2 liter fuel injected I-4. Recent oil change but the engine does not run. Not certain of the problem. Suspect blown head gasket but it was starting to burn oil and smoke at start up. Bottom line: Engine needs replacement or at least major work.

Transmission: Four speed (overdrive 4th) automatic. Rebuilt fewer than 2,000 miles ago. Was working perfectly when the engine stopped. I think the rebuild included a new torque converter.

Half-shaft and CV joints: Replaced several years ago. No signs of leaking. No noise. No problems noted.

Exhaust: No problems. It is quiet and well secured to the car. Exhaust manifold has been replaced (a frequent failure item on these cars). It does its job quietly and effectively.

Steering: Steering feels fine and tight. New rack a number of years ago because of leaking. There are no apparent problems. Tie rod ends are tight. Steering is stable and predictable. No problems noted.

Suspension: Front struts have been replaced a couple of times. Rear shocks at least twice. Rides at normal height. There is a slight rattle in the back on rough roads but we can’t figure out where it is coming from. Most people would not notice. It rides level and at normal height. Has a remarkably smooth ride and stable handling.

Tires: Two brand-new and two almost new Kumho tires. All four wheels recently balanced. There is no shaking or wobbling. Has a full size spare. Has factory jack and lug wrench. It will not need tires for many thousands of miles.

Title: Sold with Alabama title and bill of sale. It has always been registered and insured in the state of Alabama.

Warranty: None express or implied. You’re buying a well tended but well used car.

Shipping: Buyer is responsible. I will make the car available to a carrier. I am experienced with shipping overseas. I will work with the buyer/broker. It cannot be started or driven. It will have to be winched onto a carrier or trailer.

Payment: $500 deposit within 48 hours of closing of the auction. Balance to be paid within seven days of closing of the auction. PayPal, wire transfer, certified check, or personal check (as long as it has cleared prior to pick up) or any combination of the above are all acceptable methods of payment.

Pricing: Starting price is fair and reasonable. There is no reserve. If you bid, you buy. Please respect that.

Additional information: I encourage you to ask question but I respectfully request that you do so through e-bay.
