Toyota Land Cruiser Project
Description
1973 FJ40 Land Cruiser. Note that the FJ has been stripped down to the frame. I have the vehicle pictured, just disassembled so if you're not wanting a project then this isn't the FJ for you. If you're up for a little assembly work, read on.
** Top and doors are in perfect shape, truly excellent. These have been stored in a spare bedroom, honestly. I don't think you'll find a better one.
** Motor (1974 1F or "F and a half") is freshly rebuilt, still on the stand, never been fired. No shade tree mechanic work. Machine work was done by local machine shop and a local engine builder did all the assembly. I have the original carb rebuilt by "FJ40 Jim" who is known as the authority on FJ carbs. It's still in the box where I got it back from him.
** Tub had quarter panels and rear sill replaced with new panels from Cool Cruisers of TX. Again, a body shop who is an FJ expert did the body work. He also bedlined the tub on the inside. Floors are solid and didn't need replacing. I have pictures of before and after the tub work was done.
** I have two 3 speed transmissions and two transfer cases. Both came out of running and driving FJ40s, so both should be in fine shape. I have photos of both vehicles that these came out of. I also have a spare 1F motor that needs rebuilt. It ran but has 20psi on #1.
** New wheel cylinders on all 4 corners.
I have almosteverything to put it back together. I have all the big stuff such as the back doors (have a few extra), the roll bar, gas tank (I think I have two), steering column (have two), etc, etc. I have multiple front bezels. I have an original radiator that my local shop rebuilt. I have the wiring harness, but was going to replace it with new wiring.
What's missing? I have seats, but they need to be recovered. I have no rear seats. I have no rear heater. I have no front signals or rear lights. I'm probably missing some switches, but I know I have 1 if not 2 headlight switches.
I have a LOT of spare parts. I accumulated parts from three FJs to build one. So in some cases I have multiple pieces, but I may be missing something here or there. Everything FJ40 that I have goes with the truck.
Note that I am in Alabama and Alabama does not and will not issue a title for a vehicle over 30 years old. It is currently registered in my name. I've sold vehicles out of state before and other states recognize that AL (and other states) don't issue a title for older trucks and simply require a bill of sale and a copy of the current registration, both of which I will provide.
