Description

It's been a long winter and now that Spring is here what better way to enjoy the warmer temperatures than with a TR6!

Please read the descriptions CAREFILLY. I pack a LOT of detail into my descriptions. If you skip around thinking it's the usual fluff you will be missing valuable information.

1976 was the last year for the TR6 and this particular car sports the rare Java Green color. Built in December 1975, the car was sold new at Karp Motors in Savannah, Georgia. The original owner had the car until the early 1980's and then sold the car to the second owner who was very active in the Triumph Car Club Scene. He drove the car to several national Triumph meets while his young kids sat in the passenger seat and back! The window stickers from those events are still on the windshield. When his children grew too big to squeeze in the back the second owner sold the car to the third owner. The third owner builds golf courses and travels extensively. He did not have much time to spend with the car, so it sat in a garage on a golf course in Alabama. The forth owner, an ITDirector for a large southern lumber company, heard about the rare TR6, and met withthe third ownerand convinced him to sell it. I bought the car from the forth owner. When I went to pick it up he had about a dozen classic sports cars scattered about the garages and drive of his mid-century home. There were several Triumphs, Porsches, and a Ferrari. He told me that after two marriages he's unlucky with women and doesn't drink, so spends his money on beautiful cars. I am the fifth owner of this unique car.

What makes this car different from all the other cars out there? This car has EVERY option that one could get at the time. This car has:

--Overdrive -(The vin number ending in "O" confirms that this is an original factory overdrive car.)

- Hardtop - The fourth owner spent $2,000.00 restoring the hardtop with NEW paint, NEW correct headliner from The Roadster Factory, NEW seals, NEW chrome trim, etc. You will not find a nicer hardtop.

- Chrome (period correct) Luggage Rack.

- A/C - Yes, I said air conditioning! This car has the dealer installed air conditioning. The fourth owner removed the old York piston compressor, but it's included with the car. The under dash unit is hooked up and still blows air just fine.

This is one of the most heavily optioned TR6's in existence. There may be one or two TR6's a year that come up for sale that have all these options. This is a rare car.

Options alone don't make a great car. The following description will show you why this car is better than most:

ENGINE/TRANSMISSION - The engine is original and runs excellent.

Just prior to me purchasing the car $800.00 was spent at Charleston Import Automotive for a complete fluid change (engine/gearbox/differential), valve adjustment, etc. The car has an electronic ignition and a Lucas Sport coil.

A prior owner installed the external rocker arm oiler.(stainless hose feeding oil to the rocker arm.) Some TR6 engines have a reputation for not providing sufficient oil to the rocker arms. This fixesmodification fixes that issue.

The fourth owner installed new Scott Helms thrust washers. The range for crankshaft end float per factory specs is 0.004 to 0.008". This car has 0.005" of end float. This is a PERFECT measurement, and with the Scott Helms alloy thrust washers should hold true for a very long time.

This TR6 has a Hi-Torque starter, and starts easily every time, even ifit has sat for a bit.

The engine hoses are nearly new factory correct green hoses, and factory correct clamps.

The fuel pump is nearly new and works flawlessly.

The radiator shroud is new, and the engine runs cool even if it's been idling for a long time.

The transmission shifts smoothly. There is NO grinding in any gear. The overdrive engages cleanly and crisplyon third and forth as designed.

This car runs fantastic.

HYDRAULICS - Theforth owner replaced the COMPLETE braking system. The servo, master cylinder, calipers, everything except the steel brakes lines (which don't wear) were replaced with brand new parts2 years ago, and have less than 2000 miles on them since. This TR6slows and stops confidently when needed.

Also replaced with NEW is the clutch master and slave cylinder. There are NO hydraulic leaks on this car.

ELECTRICAL - This car is British. Still,EVERYTHING works on this car. Lights light. Blinkers blink, Hazards work. The fan blows. ...well you get the idea.

The headlights are NEW. The headlight trim rings and appropriate hardware are NEW. The driving lights are expensive British Lucas lights, and are NEW. The front of this TR6 is stunning!

The battery was purchased new 6 months ago.

BODY/CHASSIS - This gorgeous car has NO RUST. Look at the pictures for proof. Until about a year ago this was always a SouthernCar and it shows. The exterior looks darn good, but would need paint to be a show car. It hasone 20 year old repaint with some very minor chips and light wear. Don't misunderstand, you can show the car now. She really is beautiful, but to be spectacular she would need fresh Java Green paint.

I believe that all panels are original, and the car has never been hit or wrecked as far as Iknow.

The chassis is rust free, and the passenger side differential mount has been boxed in to insure no cracked mounts.

The rear hubs are tight and in great shape.

INTERIOR - Years ago the front seats were recovered in leather and are in excellent condition. TR6 seats were all originally vinyl.A previous owner spent some money on these. They're beautiful, and look as if they could have been factoryleather seats.

The dash is custom made. Teak? It's excellent.

I replaced the carpet with a factory correct carpet kit from Moss Motors. It's fresh, factory appropriate, and quite plush.

The door cards and interior panels are all in nice original undamaged condition.

I replaced the steering wheel with a sexy wood rimmed period appropriate wheel with the correct Triumph emblem. It looks gorgeous, and the horn still works perfectly. I believe I still have the original steering wheel, and it will be included with the car,

The dashpad is cracked, but I have a replacement dashpad that comes with the car.

The radio is a retrosound unit that appears appropriately old, but has all the modern features.

TIRES - I replaced the steel wheels with 16" period appropriate alloy wheels with Michelin summer tires. Both are almost new and look stunning. The original steel wheels with Michelin redline tires are still inexcellent shape, and come with the car.

MISCELLANEOUS:

- The convertible top and frame are included. The top looks fine, but there is a good chance that it will need to be replaced.

- The driver's side door sticks a bit and needs cleaning or adjustment. It's NOT a frame issue.

- I replaced almost all the rubber on the car. The few rubber seals that I did not replace I have brand new, and will include with the car.

- I have a brand new windshield from Moss Motors that will be included with the car. I bought it, and was going to switch it out, but then felt guilty. The original windshield is still in good shape, and has so much history in the decals. You can decide - history or fresh?

- The convertible top boot cover is included and in excellent condition.

- The original jack, lug wrench, and handle are in the boot.

IN SUMMARY: This is a great running car that can be driven anywhere. This car is ready for your summer fun. You will search a long time to find a car with this many options that has been tended to, cared for, and loved as this one has.

Take your time, read the description again. There is a ton of information packed in.
