Description

1965 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE MARK 2. SIGNAL RED/BLACK TRIM. 4-SPEED. STANDARD WHEELS. STORED FOR YEARS IN A TEXAS GARAGE. DECENT CAR TO RESTORE. 82,827 BELIEVED ORIGINAL MILES.
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this decent Triumph Spitfire. The Mark 2 model was short lived and was only produced for a couple years from late 1964 to early 1967. This car on offer here has spent most of it's life in a Texas garage with plans to restore it by the previous owner. The car was last on the road in 1981 so has been out of use for the last 36 years ! The car is relatively complete and original except for the passsenger seat squab, front bumper, stick frame for the softtop, and some rear light lenses.
The body on this car is fairly decent with a very good to excellent bonnet. There is some rust-through in the trunk and some in the front floors. Panel fit is very good. Some repair work is needed on the rear valence panel below the trunk. The trunk lid has some bubbling on the lower lip.
The interior has had it's carpets removed at one point. The dashboard is complete and original with nice gauges, and a set of keys. The seats are correct and original for the car.
The car still retains it's original stainless hubcap set. The car retains it's correct engine 1147 cc Mk2 engine, twin SU carbs, with "FC" prefix. It turns nicely by hand and may even run with a little bit of work. The engine bay looks pretty decent and original. There's some slight typical rust-through in the battery box.
Overall, a decent affordable open classic sportscar with nice future collectability. These cars are very popular and usually inexpensive to restore to a very good level.
