Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent late "raised hinge" TR3A Roadster. The post TS-60000 models had improved, stiffer body pressings and eliminated the need for the hardwood used in the body parts of the earlier cars. The tub was redesigned for better strength and rigidity.

This car was recently purchased from Texas from it's long term owner who had plans to restore it. The main body tub and chassis on this car is very good to excellent, having very little in the way of rust or accident damage. This car is an excellent candidate for at least a minimal body-on restoration, or if one chooses, a more extensive restoration. The car has never been apart for restoration and remains pretty original. The only rust noted is a small area on each side on the lower tail section, a simple repair. At one point, there was a sheetmetal patch put over each front floor. The rest of the car's main body looks excellent and unmolested, showing it's original red paint. The spare tire area is very nice. Panel gaps look very good.

The body panels have some dings and repairable dents, the worse being the lower chin of the front apron. There is some noted filler on the LH front fender, but very little, if any, on the rest of the car.

The car's frame/underchassis looks very straight and solid. The front and rear suspension/steering operate nicely and smoothly and would benefit from maybe just an easy steam clean/detail.

The car's engine is currently stuck from sitting, but is believed to be the original unit it's engine number being sequenced so close to the chassis number. The engine compartment is very original, with beautifully straight and clean inner fenders and front bowls. The car still retains it's original VIN plate, body tags, etc. The battery box is amazingly solid, being a vulnerable place to rust out on these cars.

The car interior shows remnants of the original red color. The seats are original and in good solid shape to reupholster. The car is missing the instrument cluster panel, which are available used. The car includes the softtop frame, sidescreens, a front bumper and other loose parts pictured.

Overall, a very good starting point for a straightforward restoration. Most TR3's have led rough lives, but this one has been spared and appears to have been stored away for most of it's life. These popular cars enjoy good club support and plentiful/affordable parts availability.
