Triumph TR3 Black 1959
Description
Description
Older restoration approximately 25 years ago, never driven in winter since restored. Purchased from previous owner 14 years ago and very lightly used only in the summer by a long time Triumph owner who garaged it ever since. The restoration included new seat covers, carpet and door panels were installed, engine and transmission replaced, and new sheet metal installed on floors and in trunk. First gear is synchronized, so I expect that the transmission and perhaps the engine were from a TR4. Painted wire wheels. Car has a well fitting tonneau cover that has an unfortunate tear - it’ll keep the dust out, but not the weather. Brand new white top and side curtain set (with sliding acrylic windows) with all new fasteners frommossmotors.comnever used, still in the boxes. Also comes with a black top in decent shape that just needs cleaning. The roof frame is in good shape, and ready for you to install the new top and side curtains if you want. Also included is a new free-flow exhaust system, still in the box, although the current system works fine, but has visible rust on the tailpipes. Also included are other new spare parts: distributor cap, rotor, condensor, spark plugs, fan belt, various fasteners for tops, hood and side curtains.
Condition
Engine has strong oil pressure and runs quite well. Does not overheat. Car shines up well, but the paint job is poor, with a number of blemishes and touch ups. No dents or rust holes. It appears that the preparation on the paint job was not done properly. Chrome is dull and pitted from weather. Vinyl on dash is original, cracked and faded. Fuel gauge needs to be replaced. Radial tires look good and hold air - certainly well enough to drive around the block, but one of the rear tires has some sidewall cracking and should be replaced, while the front tires are in good shape. Heater was replaced and works as well as TR3 heaters work. Windshield has 2 or 3 pits from stones. This car is not a show vehicle, and absent a complete restoration, will not be. It is a straight, reasonably clean, dependable driver that is great fun to drive and enjoy, and turns heads wherever it goes.
