1980 Triumph TR8 and TR7 parts cars
Description
This auction is for one 1980 Triumph TR8 parts car and one 1980 Triumph TR7 partscar.
These are being sold together as I believe a nice TR8 could be made from theoverall parts.
NOTE: Vin entered is not accurate. NOTE: No titles exist for these cars, as they were part of a real estate sale. Thus they are listed as parts cars.I had to choose a clear title since others were not good descriptions... however, for $400, I could create a Connecticut title (registration type title only, whichyou might be able to transfer into a title in your state - please research if this is needed and an optionfor you).
The TR8's odometer reads just over 83,7?2 miles, and the TR7's odometer reads63,224 miles. I believe due to the general condition / wear indicator that this is the correct mileage.
The engine in each car turns.
I have not tried to start the cars yet, butI'll be working on them in the interim and will update this auction if needed.
My apologies for the extremely poor photos. Time and lighting weren't in my favor!
TR7 / parts description:
Blue / silver exterior, grey / blue interior.
5 speed (?) transmission shifts well, and looks newer, as does starter motor. Youwill need a starter soleniod. I have installed a new starter relay, which isworking.
I think the front section of the TR7 could be reused on another car after somerestoration. The headlight assemblies seem intact, but there is surface rust as inthe photos. Hood / bonnet very very rusty, but it might be made useable.
All the glass is good, with no significant scratches. Roll down windows arefrozen rolled up. Doors could be reused.
Top frame folds and opens, trunk lid good, 4 rims with roller tires on them areuseable.Tires are for moving the car around ONLY, but should be OK fortransporting the car.
Bumpers good. Exhaust system good, but much surface rust.
Rear lens assemblies good.
Steering wheel needs center insert.
Gas tank condition unknown but no leaks are indicated. There is a locking gas cap.
Bumpers good but "furry" as these become without Armor All, etc.
Car rolls.
Grey plastic dashboard in generally good condition.
Rear axle looks re-useable
Caveats:
Car was outside for over 5 years. I don't think the unit body portion can be madesafe, as there are rust through areas around suspension anchors, and the frontcross member would need replacing. The car can be transported, but has no brakes.
Seat frames are rusted and don't slide. Foam would need to be replaced.Carpets are not re-useable.
TR8 / parts description:
Dark metallic green / interior color unknown, grey plastic dash.
215 V8 with Stromberg (?) carbs, had AC system. Looks to have been registered inNY State last in 1992.
5 speed (?) transmission shifts well. I believe a starter soleniod is needed, asthe starter relay works.
All the glass is good, with no significant scratches. Roll down windows arerolled down, but appear good inside the doors. Handles and other doorparts are included, as are side mirrors and misc small parts, but these are off the car.
Top frame folds and opens, trunk lid good, 4 rims with roller tires on them areuseable. Tires are for moving the car around ONLY, but should be OK fortransporting the car.
Both sides of the exhaust system look good. Very mild rust and both sides are complete from end to end.
One rear lens assembly good.
Gas tank condition unknown. Gas cap comes off, and there is a "stale gasoline"smell.
Rear bumper good but "furry" as these become without Armor All, etc.
Car rolls.
Grey plastic dashboard in generally good condition.
Rear axle looks re-useable.
This unit body could be restored, although note holes in floor and prop shafttunnel (see photos).
Cross member is in good condition.
Caveats:
There are 3 alloy TR8 style rims, and one Triumph GT6 rim. Tires are for movingthe car around ONLY, but should be OK for transporting the car.
Car was inside a barn for over 5 years. Mice have been in and out, now removed.
Hood / bonnet for this car is missing. Front "clip" missing and passenger frontfender damaged due to front end accident.
Passenger side front shock tower may be out of alignment.
Note rear end dent. Interior parts & seats are missing.
TR8 steering column wheel splines damaged by wrench (steering wheel for this TR8 was missing when found).
