Description

Talk about a sharp looking classic sports car! This 1969 Triumph Spitfire carries all those aesthetic refinements its manufacturer lavished upon its model as the decade was about to come to a close. It's logged only a little over 2200 miles since a very thorough restoration, a two-year process that was completed just last year and documented with plenty of build receipts. That compact, clean white exterior is the result of a lot of exacting work. On top of its vintage aesthetics and charm, this Spitfire has the vitality of a new car because, essentially it is just that. Before it came time to put everything back together, both the body and frame were thoroughly media blasted and prepped for what was to come. Not only were the panels thoroughly inspected to make sure they were solid and straight, but the support structures that hold everything from the hood on back were replaced entirely. There's an impressive collection of new chrome also on board, including pretty much everything from its bumpers both fore and aft to its body trim - even the lettering gracing its hood. Up front, the headlights have been replaced from casing to bulb, as have all the exterior fittings in back. Should you find yourself in inclement weather behind the wheel of this beauty, the manual black vinyl convertible top is in the same stellar condition as everything else you see and sports a clear plastic window. Just a quick glance inside the cockpit provides proof that the interior has received the same lavish treatment to arrive at its current awesome condition. Upon lowering yourself into the driver's seat, you'll be surrounded by a classic sports car driving environment whose every feature has either been renewed or replaced, starting with the bucket seats, which have been reupholstered from scratch and sport a showroom condition as they sit astride the center console, with new door panels to each side. Beyond the leather wrapped steering wheel, the dash area has also been brought to top form and its clean walnut instrument panel surrounds a collection of crystal clear gauges. Take a look down at the toe box and you'll see that even the pedals are wearing new pads. About the only deviation from stock configuration is a welcome one - the aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo now sitting in the dash offers both satellite and Bluetooth, as well as a sound quality well out of reach of its original counterpart. The 1296cc engine was taken all the way down to its block and before being rebuilt was equipped with both higher compression pistons and an upgraded camshaft to increase the power on hand. A pair of period-correct SU H2 carbs were also added, along with what is essentially an engine bay's worth of fresh components, including an entirely new fuel system, a new wiring harness, and a new ignition system. Meanwhile, an upgraded radiator with dual electric fans now sits up front to help ensure temperatures stay in check. The accompanying 4-speed manual transmission was given all the attention it needed to regain top form and joins a new clutch, so navigating through this classic's gears is a breeze. With an aftermarket Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust now in place, this British classic sends out just the right exhaust note as it turns heads with its vintage style, and it rolls on a set of 13" stock wheels wrapped with Kumho Solus tires that have plenty of life left in them.
