Description
'73 TR6 with electronic ignition, smooth shifting 4 speed manual transmission, new AM/FM radio w/ext audio inputs, that runs and rides great. Body and frame are solid, no rust, it spent most of it's life in Texas and away from the coast. Lots of fun to drive.
Has new front (adjustable) shocks, u-joints & Yokahama P205/70R15 radials with plenty of tread. The engine was completely rebuilt at 90,000 miles by a pro shop under supervision of the previous owner who was well-experienced in doing frame up restorations. The engine's rings, pistons, valves, bearings, etc were all replaced. The cylinder head was also milled slightly to increase compression and it has a modified cam. Premium fuel is suggested but I don't think is required. Weber downdraft carburetors replaced the originals - the car has abundant low end torque and accelerates nicely. Body was repainted keeping original British Racing Green color a few thousand miles ago by PO - the painter did an EXCELLENT job, no orange peel, overspray or other artifacts are noticeable and the surface has only a few small scratches as shown in pictures. A few tiny rock dings < 1mm in diameter and 0.2mm depth are visible only from a couple feet on the hood. Bumper chrome is good, but there is some minor pitting (see photos). Wheels are original and have no rust and they look very clean. Center spinners and chrome emblems all in good shape. Brakes (including the emergency lever) work well. - discs on front and drums on the rear. An electric fuel pump was installed as the mechanical pump (still installed) rarely lasted more than a year after rebuilds and PO gave up on Moss Motors pumps & kits. This TR6 isn't ready for the concourse at Pebble Beach, but looks pretty good and gets lots of complements when I'm at the pumps or in a parking lot.
Has new carpets and rubber floor mats are always used to keep them clean (mats pulled for pictures). All exterior, trunk and dash lighting is working. Left door switch needs to be replaced for floor lights to work and one license plate light is missing. I have the switch and bulbs which will be included in sale. Seats are vinyl and have no major abrasions or tears. Some discoloration on tan interior, see photos. Seat belts work, return spring on driver side isn't very strong but will draw the belt in if you help it a bit.
The top is in good condition with clear / non yellowed windows, it latches tightly, rear window zippers are good, and stores away fine behind the seats. The top it is missing 4 rivets along back edge that do not affect top staying in place, I just haven't replaced them. Wipers & washer works well, but I only drive in clear weather, so they get little use. Windows roll up / down just fine, although the passenger window does exhibit quite a bit of friction when turning the crank and probably needs lubrication on the tracks inside the door. The radiator looks ugly but there are no coolant leaks and the engine never overheats even in 105+ F degree Texas weather so I've been hesitant to mess with it. No front speakers are installed, rear speakers are good-sounding bookshelf speakers on the floor behind the seats. No AC of course (previous owner laughed when I asked before I bought it in 2011).
Buyer is responsible for shipping, and only bid if you're in the continental USA.
