It came to me with a 600 CFM Holley on an Edelbrock manifold and Mallory Unilite electronic ignition. Emissions & Catalytic converters had already been deleted. I replaced the worn 600 CFM carb with a new, more appropriately sized 390 CFM Holley.
During my ownership I have upgraded it with 105 amp Delco alternator, new 4 bbl carb as mentioned above, high torque starter, TSI needle strut bearing kit, steel braided brake hoses, speed bleeders, new clutch master cylinder, and new custom made convertible top boot cover.
Maintenance during my ownership has included new ball joints, tie rod ends, strut gaiters, repaired AC to blow cold (including conversion to R134 & new dryer & expansion valve), new power steering hoses, new water pump, new brake booster, and oil/filter changes every 3K miles. It also just received a new battery and mufflers.
I have owned & enjoyed this rare beauty for6years racking up nearly 10K fun filled dependable miles, but now it's time to pass it on to make room for a new toy. Aside from several paint blisters toward the bottom of the door skins (see photos) it is rust free. Although this is not the absolute nicest TR8 out there, it is easily better than most and will provide its new owner with years of dependable driving pleasure. Clean Florida title in my name.
