For sale is our beloved 1966 VW Beetle. This bug is a very strong runner, and has seen a great deal of work completed in the last two years. It has lots of pep and is ready to travel with you on your next cross country adventure. The odometer reads 67,407, but I have no idea as to what the actual mileage is.
The engine has just been rebuilt by the pros at Archway Import in St Louis, MO. The engine block is an "F" series, which is preferable because 1966 was the "F" block's only year. It is not the original engine. It is a single port 1600cc and has been upgraded to 12V operation. (1966 was the last year of 6V). The radio is 6V, so it has not been reconnected after the upgrade to 12V.
In addition to the rebuild, the following parts have been replaced during the last two years:
Carburetor
Starter
Alternator w/ internal regulator
Muffler & tailpipes
Distributor
Fuel Pump
Battery
Running boards
Firewall lining
Heater tubes
Clutch disk
The tires are in great shape, with essentially no tread wear, including the spare. The brakes work properly and the pedal is firm. The drums were pulled and they have no scoring and there is plenty of "meat" on the shoes. The shocks are good and there is no play in the the steering or suspension bushings.
The interior is exceptionally clean. The headliner, door panels and seats are nearly new, without no tears or stains. The carpeting is in great shape. The glass has no cracks.
Included is a high quality car cover.
New body parts include all 4 fenders, trunk lid, and engine compartment lid. The glass has no cracks and the windows crank up and down correctly The sunroof does not align perfectly when closed, but that should be an easy fix. The paint is newer and in good shape, but is wasn't done by a professional.
Included is an excellent car cover.
Yes, the car has some rust. After all it is 51 years old and perfect "show cars" of this year can fetch 40K! The good thing is replacement body parts are plentiful and they are cheap. Importantly, the heater channels are sound. The floor pan is not perfect, but it is entirely serviceable. The rear wheel wells could use some attention, as could the bumper mounts.
This car was my "weekend goof off" car. I have done my best to represent its condition, but it is 51 years old and is sold "as-is". As such, please ask all questions that you may have prior to bidding and I will do my best to answer them quickly and accurately.
