1963 Volkswagen Beetle Bug
Description
My description is an honest one..My 100% feedback score is important but my integrity is even more important.. I am not a VW mechanic so I've been told more than I actually know myself. ..Please ask questions if in doubt of anything and I'll try my best..The story goes, I bought a bug in the late 60's and always wanted another ..I bought this 2 years ago for the wife and I to bring back memories.. It was owned by a man that gave it to his daughter before he died.. She let it sit in her garage for many years. It was then bought by an old time VW- Porsche mechanic who got it back on the road. I got it from him. The reason I'm selling is that we don't find it as fun as we thought to bounce around in this little car. Memories only go so far.. . Here's the details good or bad, Always garage kept .New gas tank, gas lines, brakes, brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, tires, battery, (its still 6 volt).. It had a new block and a rebuild 4000 miles ago so its not a numbers matching but I'm told all others match..The engine is stock . Runs good.. Trans shifts smooth and easy with one exception. When we got back from Florida last week after being there 4 months and after it sitting in my garage unused 4 months it developed a slight "chatter"letting the clutch out in first gear. Maybe from sitting ?. It never did that in December before we left. All other shifts are good.. Wiper button is stuck so wipers don't work. Interior dome bulb is out. All other lights outside and inside work. Doors open and close straight and lock. Hood and truck also..All glass is marked "VW" except windshield which has 2 pea size stone chips, no cracks..Windows roll up and down nice. Interior looks original except carpet which was replaced and isn't the greatest. Seats are nice but the drivers seat has some stitching coming loose on the edge from sliding in and out. Back seat is real nice. .Headliner is good with some yellowing and a couple poke marks. Dash is uncut original with radio delete. It never had one. Door cards are nice. Paint inside has its share of scratches but its original. Paint outside was done nicely sometime in its life and matches original about as close as it can be. Shines nice with a little patina and a few small repairs (if you know what your looking for) from very minor bumps. It is not painted over the weather stripping and looks professionally done. Weather stripping around the doors and windows could use replacing but is usable as is. Floors are original and very solid.. Under the battery had some minor rust (no holes) so I took it to a body guy who told me it didn't need replacing just a small patch. Its very solid now. He also touched up in front of the rear wheels due to some light surface rust . Running boards are solid. Heater channels are solid and the heat works. Under the spare is solid but it was spray painted ?? No rust there. No signs what-so-ever of being hit anywhere. Starts quickly, runs good, shifts good, stops straight, handles good, no wheel shake over bumps, I was told the king pins are good. It is titled, Hagerty antique insured, registered and legal in every way in my name. The original owners manual goes with it. The manual has some nice service details from the original owner. Speedo shows 89000 miles which I believe to be true. The title shows well over 100k which I was told was mistaken when the daughter titled it. The service records confirm 89000. I can't do anything about that now. I have described every detail as best I can. If there's anything I've forgotten I will ad it or please ask. This is seriously a nice little Bug that is perfect for an easy restoration or just drive it as is. Please keep in mind that this car is 54 year old car and the warranty expired 53 years ago so its an as is sale. I encourage you to look at it yourself or have it checked out if your in question. If your local enough to pick it up if you buy it and it isn't as I've described you don't have to buy it, but lets be reasonable about that..If your local please look at it before bidding. If your not local and your buying sight unseen its your car once it leaves my garage. I will take a $500. deposit only by paypal .. All other money MUST be in a wire transfer or cash.. Thank you..
