Description
Well, it seems time to part with my beloved 1971 Karmann Ghia Coupe. I took a great deal of pride in its restoration, and it's a great car that always turns heads. (However I am restoring a Sunbeam and an Alfa Romeo at this time, and sadly one has to go..)
The car runs very well. Brakes, steering, tranny all good. Does not burn oil and there are no operational issues whatsoever. The 4 speed gearbox shifts effortlessly. It has the 1600cc dual port standard bug engine. The only engine part ever replaced was the oil cooler which is new. (I have the OEM air filter/oil bath-FYI)
The interior has beenrestored. I refurbished the front seats, dash, and carpeting. (rear seats are original, present well, but could use some TLC.)
The carpeting is high end, and very similar to a the original VW german square weave. Ipurchased it from Newton Commercial carpeting inthe UK, and had it shipped overseas to the US.The Coker Whitewalls are alsovery low miles purchased a year ago. (This car is only a weekend driver taken to shows and around locally.).
Allgauges work properly as does the Motorola Sapphire XV radio! Ialso installed a RF transmitter that is in the front trunk that will allow you to plug in youiPod and iPhone to play your music thru the stock radio and (new) front speaker.
Other new stuff I installed:
- New steering wheel
- New Dash Face, Dash Cap
- Door panels, handles
- Original New Old Stock "Hella" Taillight lenses and front directional lenses (hard to find!)
- Original Kienzle working clock, -however accuracy is notguaranteed.
- Shopmanuals and many spare parts are also included in this auction!
Overall this is a very nice car, and looks just beautiful. Please note, however that it is not a concurs level car and has its flaws, but nothing severe. Overall its just great to be out there on the road with, getting compliments, and having some VW fun! You'll love it- I did.
