Hello,
I posted this yesterday but took it down to repost on my personal account and added some new photos with the camper shell back on with new rubber.
I am selling my rebuilt 1981 1.9 diesel Volkswagen Rabbit Caddy. I love this car and it pains me to be selling it but I have to move to New York and will not have a garage to keep it protected from the East Coast weather. Honestly, if I had more money I would keep it here and come get it when I had a good place for it. I bought this car freshly rebuilt from a guy who rebuilds these Rabbits as a hobby and has a lot of experience. All engine components are German, no expense was spared rebuilding this and it drives beautifully, would easily make it across the country . I am hoping there are people who see how much this kind of thing is worth;I feel pretty certain that this is about as close you can get to buying one of these guys new. There are a few minor scratches in the paint but the body is straight and in great condition.
This car was totally restored from the ground up. Rebuilt 1.9 turbo diesel short block mated to a 1.6 turbo rebuilt head, all new brakes, suspension, new upholstery, and fresh paint. The guy I bought it from had it painted in the original factory color code LE1B(SONNENGELB). We have worked to keep this car as original as possible. All parts are either German or U.S. made. Car is equipped with original working cassette player. Venting windows are currently sealed but I have all of the original hardware if you would like to open them back up again. I would have done so if I didn't have to let her go.
I have only had this car for a few months after searching for something like this for years. A safe guess is that this engine has about 3,000 miles on it, the odometer still reads 128xxx.This car gets great gas mileage and will last a very long time if it is well taken care of.
That being said; this car is for someone who knows and loves these old Rabbits.
Registration is current and has Nov. 2017 tags. Battery is a new Bosch. It's got a cute little camper shell. The bottom of the car is in great shape and comes with a spare tire and new shocks. There is a jack in the car, too.
Please feel free to ask any questions! I have a LOT of love for this car and I have learned a lot. I am happy to share any knowledge I have about this Rabbit.
Thank you for looking!!
