This van has a rebuilt title. I bought it at auction with a minor front passenger side collision. It suffered no frame damage and it ran and drove great with the 2.5 gas engine, just an insurance write-off. The PS fender, hood, and front bumper/support were replaced and I immediately started the TDI conversion process. After the conversion was complete, the van easily passed the Nevada engine conversion certification and smog test and has a Nevada title with the diesel engine designation.

The TDI conversion was done with 186K on the van with a 1998 Jetta 112K motor (barely broken in for a diesel) and the van currently has 192K and counting.

Being a 24-year-old van, the exterior is not perfect cosmetically. I was going to have it repainted but decided that I wanted to be able to enjoy the van without having to worry about scratching it up while driving down forest and desert roads. It wouldn’t take much to make her perfect.

I have upgraded this van with the intention of keeping it forever. My family and I have enjoyed many camping trips throughout the Southwest and it has been a great, dependable adventure rig. We will be relocating overseas and I do not want her to sit unused in storage for years so I have reluctantly decided to find her a new home.
