This 1961 KARMANN GHIA is a very nice car that was restored by a previous owner. I have owned this car for the past 19 months. I found a new car that I want more so the Ghia has to go to make room. Originally a California car that is rust and accident free. During it's restoration the color was changed from white to a Porsche 356 color Prussian Blue and the interior from, red/white to cream/gray/Prussian blue. This car has had some performance tweaks made to the suspension (larger front sway bar and rear axle camber compensator as well as a Gene Berg motor 1776cc) and a freeway flyer transmission. This car has been well taken care of and loved by me as well as the previous five owners. The only itemsnot working are the radio, clock and wipers. The following is a brief history as I know it from the pervious owners:
Owner #1: Purchased the car in March of 1961 and drove it for 32 years and 215,000 miles. He documentedall of his service in a small notebook.
Owner #2: Purchased the car in May of 1993 and owner it for 17 years. A Porsche enthusiast, he did the $20,000.00 restoration and applied the Porsche Prussian Blue paint (there are some photos of this process). He installed an adjustable beam, freeway flyer transmission and convertedthe electric to 12 volt. He installed a new NOS speedometer set to 0.
Owner #3: Purchased the car in October of 2010. He installed a 1776 cc Gene Berg motor withClyde Berg ported heads. This car is quick and loud when your foot is in it.
Owner #4: Rhode Island State Trooper.
Owner #5: Alex in N.Y. was the person I purchased the car from in January 2016.
Owner #6: Me. When Ibought the car it had 2.654 miles since the restoration and I put an additional 247 miles on it bringingto the current 2,901 miles.
The original motor had 215,000 miles on it and the new motor has 2,901 miles on it.
