You are bidding on a 1964 VW Bug with the rare metal Sunroof option.
A Sun-lover's delight! This rare 1964 Beetle keeps up with modern traffic and is a little spitfire on the highway, handling 70mph traffic like a pro. This four-speed manual transmission, 1600 Single Port Engine, with the original steel factory sunroof is in optimum condition for refurbishing. The engine is very strong. She’s easy to fire up, and quick to get to where you need to be. This daily driver handles city traffic with finesse. The trans shifts nicely, even on the downshift.
Here is some of the work that's been done within the last 3,000 miles:
Pretty clean for a 53 year old California Bug, only a touch of rust (not even the size of a dime coin) in the driver’s side wheel-well behind tire(see pcture). The body is straight, with the exception of a reparable dent on the passenger side door and the rear decklid has the same. I understand from the previous owner that the paint was a redone 10+ years ago; and it’s evident that several areas were retouched by a novice’s hand. A fresh coat of paint would make her feel really pretty again!
The interior is good. The headliner shows a few points of wear and the white seat covers are in good condition. The lights illuminate nicely, windows roll up and down smoothly, doors open and close like new and the metal Sun Roof opens and closes with ease.
Congratulations on finding this rare opportunity 1964 VW with original sunroof! It’s believed that only 1 in 10 VWs were made with sunroofs due to the cost of the added extravagance to the bottom line price. You can be the talk of the town in this little beauty, she’ll be sure to always turn heads!
