1983 VW Vanagon Westfalia This is the one that you have been waiting for!! This is a one owner time warp Camper Van. The only owner has been my philosophy professor father in law. This Westfalia was purchased new, German Delivery, by him in 1983. He spent several days touring Europe with the van and then dropped it off at the port and had it shipped over here.He then enjoyed the camper with many family adventures for a couple of decades until he purchase a new Sprinter Motorhome. This is just the coolest van ever, but if you are reading this you are already a believer. It was amazing as we were taking the photographs just how the designers from Westfalia did such an amazing job making the absolute most out of this “swiss army knife of a vehicle”. Every available spot has been utilized for something. And all of it is so well built, I am amazed at the quality of this vehicle. The roof tent pops up perfectly and the fabric, zipper and all are amazing condition. The interior shows amazingly well the fabrics are in excellent shape with the only issues being noted in the photos. The van drives well, It has not been driven much over the last 5-8 years, however, I would probably dare drive across the country for fun. I probably would hesitate on bringing the wife and kids until its had a real thorough going through. The bottom line is that it runs excellent, it’s a little rough on startup, I would have someone check it but our best VW shop closed up about 3 years back and I have found no one competent to replace them.I have had oil changes done and made the van as ready as possible to drive anywhere. But there is no warranty written or implied. Also, there is no air conditioning except the windows being down. As far as the overall van, the interior is amazing and very well cared for there are some missing screens on the middle windows and some of the drapes are a little on the sun bleached side. The exterior of the vehicle is all original paint, stickers and hubcaps. I thought about having it painted for the sale, but I not sure how many of these are left that are perfectly original. So I left it. There are a couple of rust spots that are not through the metal but will need to be addressed soon. I will put a new set of tires on for the sale, there is plenty of tread left but the tires are old and I will make sure a good set is included and on. I absolutely love this vehicle and would love to keep it, but it seems the value has climbed fairly significantly on these in the past few years. And this one is an amazing example that someone with full appreciation of what this van is should have. It is either an awesome amazing original or like the best possible place to start for a full resto. Thank you for viewing my auction!
