Description

This Ghia started it's life as 1600cc, carbureted, antiquated beauty. Over the last decade has been upgraded to a 1915 fuel injected sleek stunner that gets looks and starts conversations at every stop. The lugtronic fuel injection ensures it starts right up even in the single digit temperatures of a north east winter, and is self adjusting as you drive to level out the air and fuel mixture as you go. The complete and original VW gas heater with installation directions works well to warm the car without breathing fumes from heater boxes and motor vapor. The heated seats are also wonderful to make trips more comfortable. The ugly bumper car looking bumpers were removed and retro fitted with earlier and more appealing bumpers that were rechromed. The gas tank was replaced with a higher capacity tank, and custom cut and welded to allow the heater to sit on top of it with plenty of clearance.
The car originally came with skinny 4 lug rims, and has been converted to the wide 5 bolt pattern both front and back. The front narrowed beam from Franklins, includes disc brakes up front as well. The rear still has drum brakes as well as adjustable lowering arms. The car sits perfectly for either an original look with the white walls, or the sportier more modern looking 17x5 inch wheels. The white wall tires are brand new Coker rubber which still have the little nibs around the wheel. The rims were powder coated black and trim rings installed. You get both, so you can change it up depending on your mood. The exhaust is a custom sidewinder system with a resonator to quiet it down. You can remove that if you like. The motor was bumped up to a 1915 and rebuilt approx 3500 miles ago, and the valves were recently adjusted, and it has an external oil filter and cooler installed. The transmission is brand new and only has maybe 100 miles on it. It was done by Ranchero. The rear axles are new as well. Much of the cars wiring has been gone through and rewired. The battery is housed under the rear seat and the lugtronic fuel injection was installed and just looked over by the talented technicians at CSP in Norwood NJ. The ecu and relays are all neatly behind the rear seat. Everything on the car is subtle and detailed. The custom red interior was redone as well as the headliner and carpet. While the carpet was out the floor was dynomated and checked for rust. It's solid.
The interior also sports more accurate autometer gauges as well as a German short throw shifter and bamboo tray. The custom wood steering wheel and roof rack were both sanded down and restrained to match. The original black plastic steering wheel and VW radio come with it.This car was always kept in a climate controlled garage and only driven gently around town on nice days. I've had it on the highway and cruised easily along at 75-85 mph. If you're looking for a nice driveable and showable car, this is ready to go. There are many spare carbs, and parts that come along, but too many to list. The paint is a Mercedes gun metal gray with dark red interior. It is silky smooth, and super shiny, but not flawless. There is a small little dent about the size of a golf ball on passenger side lower rear quarter, and two small bubbles on the lower driver door you have to squat to see. This isn't a show car, it's a driver. It's not a frame off restoration. It'd be an easy one to do if you wanted to, but I think it's great as is. Tons of added extra original parts included. Original radio, steering wheel, dual carb set up complete, extra sidewinder mufflers, and a custom painted to match the car, car cooler for summer trips.
