Description

The time has come to pass it on. We have had so much fun with this car, original Southern California green VW Thing, un-molested, bone stock and runs perfect. The motor was just completely rebuilt by one of the greatest VW engine builders in the country if not the world, Bob Blackwell, I have photo documentation of the rebuild, starts 1st crank and purrs like a kitten with no leaks or smoking at all. The gearbox was just fully rebuilt by Jeff Fields and Johnny Burns at Transaxle Engineering and shifts like new, no grinding and no popping out of gear.2000 miles on new motor and transmission, 3 valve adjustments and 2 oil changes preformed.New clutch and pressure plate.Generator removed and more reliable brighter alternator installed.New carburetor installed jetted and tuned to perfection.New BatteryFresh rebuilt CV's with new boots.Brakes gone through and work great.New Throttle and Speedo cable.New wiper blades.New wheel bearings.New tires.Good Spare with original tool kit and jack.New top and frame from the thing shop.Has the old classic wood Duck floor boardsChassis and motor numbers match. All lights and electronics work, even the cigarette lighter! All electrical connections and junctions have been taken apart, cleaned and make good contact. The car comes with all extra parts and documentation from the original owner as well as all the old parts that we have replaced.Though I'm calling it 2000 miles on restoration, odometer reads 92869.This car is as reliable as they come, as stated above we preformed no restoration to the body to preserve the cars old paint and the historic Los Angeles flower shop signage and pinstriping. If someone wants to make this a show car they could repair the small typical Thing rust spots with minimal effort but we chose to leave it as is.The pan is in great condition with one small 2" hole where the battery sits. The license plate says BAADTHG, I also have the original blue California plate that came with the car.A real joy to drive, feel free to contact me with any questions or if you need more information.Clean title in my name, just paid next years tabs.
