1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible - Karmann Edition
Made in July 1978 at the Karmann factory in Osnabrück, West Germany, this example is one of the last 1978 models. It has been lovingly cared for by the same owner for the last 10 years!
Finished in Gloss Black, the paint and exterior trim have been professionally repainted, and is in excellent condition. The windows are clear and intact. All of the body panels are straight, solid and rust free. The floor pans were replaced at the time of the repaint. The convertible roof fits well and is weather tight. All bracing and cross ribs are original, intact and in good shape. The roof fabric has a blemish as shown in pictures, but is only visible when the top is up. The cargo area is in good order, the engine bay is clean with all correct O.E. replacement parts.
Under that rear hood is a professionally rebuilt 1600cc fuel-injected flat four-cylinder engine mated to a professionally rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. All engine and transaxle work was done by A.I.R. Import Repair in Tacoma Washington.
Inside, the original black seats are in good condition, the matching carpet was replaced and looks very good, as does the one-piece instrument panel with its VDO gauges. The original, four-spoke steering wheel is present .
This car is remarkably good driving shape, needing no work to drive away. With minimal work, this could easily become a show car, with all of the hard and expensive work having already been done.Perfect for weekend tinkering!
This Volkswagen is an ideal summer cruise car, especially with a fuel-injected motor; just flip the top back and go! Late ‘70s VW Super Beetle Convertibles are rare and this car would turn heads at any cruise night or weekend cruise event.
This car is currently located in University Place, Washington. Current mileage on the odometer shows under 67,000 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
