If you are like us you can't help but instantly fall in love with classic vehicles like this 1970 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus. Sure it's not a pristine show car but that's what we love about this! It's in the condition to do either 1 of 2 things: 1. Drive the wheels off it like it is or 2. Start tearing it down and make it your own. It qualifies for both of these avenues because the bus is just ridiculously solid. We've looked this thing over and can only find 1 patch by the driver's feet that's abo...ut 6 inches long. Pretty remarkable considering how many of these are rusted out beyond belief. One reason why it's so solid today though is based on the receipts and documentation we have it appears that the mileage is 79000 believed to be actual miles. Outside the paint shows very well. You won't find bubbles and cracks just an older but really clean paint job. A wet sand and buff could really bring back some life to the paint but all in all whoever painted it knew what they were doing for it to look this well today. Mechanically the engine was rebuilt in the late 90's with roughly 50k miles on it. At the time they replaced the long block distributor cap points plugs etc.. But also included a new clutch release bearing and pressure plate. Since then the engine has been maintained very well based on the receipts. The most recent service was done in August of '16. Like most VW's if it sits for a couple of weeks it will weep a little engine oil. But the engine fires up easily every time the transmission and clutch shift smoothly with no shake as you start rolling that indicates a warped pressure plate or sometimes worse and all the electrical has been gone through in the past 10 years so that everything works the way it should. The interior shows very well for its age the only real item of criticism is definitely the headliner. A new headliner is included in the sale that is ready to be put in if you so chose. But the current owner didn't want to do to much to the interior because so many owners of these type 2 VWs will gut the interiors and make them their own. So at this point the interior is a blank canvas for the next owner. But if that doesn't sound like you short of the headliner everything else is in good driver shape. the seats aren't cracked or torn carpet is decent door panels show well and once again gauges and everything works the way it should. If you are a fan of the VW buses and don't want to pay $100k for the 21 or 23 window earlier generations then this is the ride for you.
