Description

1972 Volkswagen Bus with Westfalia Camper pop up top. All original condition. Yes, the bus is a 1972 but came from the factory with the updated marker lights in the front but has the early style front bumper with the step. It was a split year produced bus. Unusual for sure. Very solid bus with no rust repair needed anywhere except the front floor boards. As shown in pictures it has some rust through in the driver and passenger floorboards. The rest of the body has no rust through anywhere. Has a few small dents in the body that will need repaired. No leaks anywhere. Camper top fabric is worn and will need replaced. The interior is usable but needs cleaning and restoring or you could do a full custom interior like I planned. The exterior could be kept as is for a patina look. The paint is original. Original 1700cc complete engine. Has been in storage since 1991 and will need restoration. Interior is complete. Good bones and a great starting point to a fun project. The engine may start and run but I have not attempted to start it. I planned on rebuilding it anyways because I wanted to travel long distance in it and have full confidence in it but it may crank and run fine, again I have never tried to start it. I have no knowledge of its history prior to me owning it other than it was sold new in Louisiana and was eventually parked in a storage building by a Volkswagen collector local to me in Alabama in 1991 and has not moved until a few months ago. These buses are getting hard to find in original condition and even harder to find that are not ate up with rust. This bus is very sold and by no means a rustbucket. I searched for a longtime before deciding to buy this one because I wanted to avoid rust repair. Undercarriage and frame isrock solid. I'd love to see this bus be restored and finished by myself but I have too many projects and need to focus on only a few that I currently have. Vehicle is sold as is with a bill of sale only. In my state (Alabama) no title is issued for any vehicle older than 35 years old but I've never had someone unable to transfer registration from my state to theirs. Please message me with any questions you may have, Thanks!
