1980 Volkswagen Rabbit convertible
Description
I bought this car from the original owner about 8 years ago. I promptly installed a fair looking but great running 2.0 ABA from an OBDI jetta. after the car sits for a week or so the head starves for oil for a few seconds. So I turn the motor without starting to move oil then I start. It pulls strong, runs great, doesn't smoke. Next I installed ST coilovers and a set of 1552, 8 inch wide snowflakes with 195 / 45 / 15 Toyo proxes. Included with the car are new black door cards, a new dark beige stayfast style top; original top is tired. Also included a new windshield gasket with chrome (plastic) insert, new door gaskets. The only rust is at the bottom of the windshield, about the size of a dime and hasn't changed since I've had the car. It is all original paint and virtually ding free. Also installed, full stainless exhaust and upper and lower front strut braces. And rare Hella euro tailights and H4 headlights. I pulled the seats and delivered to a friend to reupholster about 5 years ago. About 3 years ago I got so sick of waiting I bought a set of 1st gen Scirroco seats for the front. I believe my friend still has my seats (I'll get back to you on that). I think a rolling chassis alone in this condition is worth $3500. I never thought I'd see Rabbits (GTIs) hitting $10k but they are. forgot. . .the radiator leaks. Those Euro bumpers were $1,000.00. original bumpers included
