The Karmann Ghia was shown as a concept at the 1954 Paris Auto Show. It was internally designated as the 'Type 14' and it wore styling by Ghia's Luigi Serge. The Karmann-built coupe was positioned to be a halo car for Volkswagen with a modern design and desirable amenities. It was given a widened version of the Type 1 Beetle platform and remained in production from 1955 through 1974 with over 450000 examples built during that time. Body styles included... a Coupe and Cabriolet version. This example is in excellent condition. We purchased the car in West Covina CA form owners who cared for this car like a child and even named her Penny. This VW was too nice to pass up and has been in our collection for 4 years. The cosmetic and mechanical condition are superior and a comprehensive mechanical inspection was preformed July 27 2018. This Karmann Ghia is an investment quality example.
