Description

Up for sale is this 1966 Volkswagen StandardKombiVWBus- this bus is very original and it has survived for decades with just basic maintenancealways garaged. All the body panels and floors are original and have never been replaced, the cargo floors are solid and dont have any holes on them however theydidhavesomesurface rust mostly arond the edge of the left side floor of the cargo floor, the paint is all original in the interior of the bus that includes the floor, dash, inner panels etc etc. The front drivers floor has one tiny hole as far as holes go created by rust, the tiny hole is at the bottom of the A pillar on the drivers side. The rust that was visible on the cargo floors was treated with Rust Doctor and spot painted to preserve it for the years ahead. Check pictures.
I have a ton more of paperwork from Gene Berg thatitis not pictured!
The front suspension has been fully rebuilt with new tie rods, ball joints, brakes etc etc and the front beam is an adjustable one from Wolfgang International and the suspension stance remains to original height, the new owner can lower it or keep it like it is now.
The drivers seat is in pretty bad shape butidid not want to replace itsince its original, easy fix though.
The very rear seat can be positioned flat so a person or two can sleep on it and also the middle seat can beflipedeither backwards or just leave the way its installed in the pictures.
This is a really nice driver bus not a show bus, lots of patinain the interior, a bus that you and your family can have fun on.
The outside rear view mirrors are original German.
The full luggage rack is original German and it was powder coated.
There is a light with a cross on the rear bumper and it acts as the third brake light!
The speedometer has the desirable clear needlespeedometer from an earlier model.
The front and rear bumpers are original and have never been restored, itlooks like someonerepainted them long ago.
The interior is all original including the headliner, door panels, seats, body panels, the middle seat is not original to this bus butit looks almost like the original one,the passenger has the option to walk to the rear seat from the middle seat since its a 3/4 seat, that 3/4 seat was original to this bus.
The bus wasrepainted once in its lifetime a little over a year ago and brand new rubber was replaced through out the vehicle on windows, doors, etc etc. The motor, tranmissio, brakes and all other componnents have been serviced for reliability and i would be confident to go cross country on this bus. The safari windows are original German to thisKombibus from day one they were ordered specificaly when the bus purchased, if you look closely you will see that the safari windows are different than the aftermarket type that can be bought today. I have a ton of pictures thaticould send to you of all the small details just ask. This bus was 100% made in Germany nad i think it came in through Houston Texas according to vin plate.
The motor is a very fast and it moves this bus quite quickly innout of traffic and most importantly on the freeway so you wont have people tailgating you like in the old days when these buses were like turtles on the road.
The motor is bigger than a 2liter andithink its the signature motor that Gene Berg built back in the da, a 2076cc- I have the complete set of receipts from the build of the motor along with the costumers want list that Gene Berg acknowledged dated March 17 198, then there is the invoice for the motor build dated March 28 1986 for $3,154.85 which was a fortune in those days for a motor. What'skoolabout the invoice is that it shows in detail every part and basically his recipe for a great motor. The oil sump at the bottom of the motor is a Gene Berg type and the heads are very impressive just to look at when you take the valve covers off they are also signed by his sonClydeBerg. The carburetors are dualDellorto40s. The great thing about this motor it has performance and reliability for years to come, the motor has around 30,000 miles and with basic maintenance it will run for another 150,000 miles. The transmission is a rhino super case, bullet proof. I would jump on this Bus and drive to the east coast from California no problems, thats how confident i am with this bus.If you have any questions or need anyspecific photos dont hesitate to ask.Ebay wont let me post a link to my 200+ photo album for this bus call me and i will send you a link.We have otherVWBuses available so let us know what exactly you are looking for.
