1970 Volkswagen Dune Buggy, Manx Style, Built on FULL Pan, 5 Passenger,1300 Mile
Description
This is a 1970 Manx style dune buggy with a custom body sitting on a FULL 1970 BEETLE PAN and is able to transport 5 passengers. Most buggies are built on cut pans and and will only carry 2 passengers. A Volkswagen Guru out of Asheboro NC. named Tommy Davidson built this car for me between 2006-2007 and I took delivery of the car in San Antonio Tx. 7-13-2007 as a brand new build. Tommy Davidson is internationally known for building over the top Volkswagen Things, he had just won the Bug Out in North Carolina with a green Thing when I asked him to build this dune buggy for me. The Bug Out is the biggest Volkswagen show in the world. When I asked Tommy to build the car I told him the I wanted to be able to carry all 4 of my children with me at the same time so he built this car with a custom body and on a full 1970 Volkswagen Beetle pan, a 1600cc Dual Port motor and a SCAT shifter on the 4 speed manual transmission. He added many SCAT parts during the build and chromed the motor. The car sit on big P295/50R15 tires in the back and little p195/50r15 tires in the front. The car arrived at my home in San Antonio Tx. July 2007 and I was very happy with the build on the car but soon found improvements that I wanted to do. The first thing I did was to send the car to Cambridge Automotive in San Antonio and had the suspension correctly lowered and the rear axles height balanced, had the car completely rewired to prepare for a extensive custom stereo and running lights, and a few other fine tuning jobs. After that visit the car sat low and level, the wiring system was prepped for the stereo and running lights and the car drove like it was on rails. After Cambridge Automotive was finished with the car I took the car to Custom Sounds in San Antonio where a $6500.00 Alpine/JL Audio waterproof stereo was installed, along with a custom running light system that lights the inside and underneath the car with blue neon light at night, very cool. Now the car looked the right way and sounded the right way so then I took the car to Planet Pickup in San Antonio to have them spray the lower body and step pads on the side of the body in Rhino Liner so now the car's paint was protected as well. My family and I enjoyed this car immensely, it looked righ, it sounded righ, it ran and drove great, and we never had a problem with the car in the 1300 original miles that we have driven it. The car has always been garage kept in San Antonio Tx. and meticulously maintained by Kenny Hill's Autowerks in Austin Tx. ALL RECORDS, INVOICES, AND MAINTENANCE RECORDS ARE INCLUDED WITH THE SELL OF THE CAR. The car has way too much to list so if you have specific questions please do not hesitate to ask via eBay messaging. This is my personal car, built for me, by me with no corners cut and I think it is a wonderful machine. This is not your average thrown together in a home garage dune buggy, this is a professionally built custom one-off dune buggy built by internationally known Volkswagen Thing builder, Tommy Davidson. Please pay very close to the pictures as they show the detail of the car and in the next to the last picture it shows everything the car comes with which includes every Volkswagen manual that I know o, the buggies TOP and TOP FRAME, (2) longboard surfboards, one Walden Carbon Fiber longboard and one Larry Mabile longboard ( $4000.00 surfboard value) and many Volkswagen and surfing accessories and collectibles. In all there is $30,000.00+ invested in this buggy, plus all the extras, all backed up by invoices and I am going to be asking a fair price. Please do not be afraid to make me an offer. This is a well built, well sorted, and great running and driving buggy that needs nothing but a new owner. Fly in drive home. Please do not bid if you do not intend to buy. Thank you for reading this long ad but the car deserves a lot more description. Make this special Dune Buggy yours.
