Description

DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON VW BUGS NOW FOR WELL OVER 50 YEARS HERE IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA. A FEW YEARS BACK I CAME ACROSS THIS FINE VW BUG CONVERTIBLE AND PURCHASED IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHO IS MY WWII HERO. HE IS NOW IS VERY BAD PHYSICAL SHAPE AND WOULD NOT HAVE SOLD IT TO ME HAD HIS FAMILY NOT HAVE STEPPED IN. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, TOOL KIT AND JACK THAT CAME WITH THE CAR. IT WAS PURCHASED IN HIGH POINT, NORTH CAROLINA. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE CAR. VW IN 1970 MADE JUST UNDER 400,000 BUGS WITH ONLY ABOUT 11,000 BEING A CONVERTIBLE AND MOST OF THOSE HAVE ROTTED OUT BY NOW. THIS CAR STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL BUMPERS AND BUMPER OVERIDERS THAT CAME ON IT. I DID REPLACE THE BUMPER GROMMETS AND GASKETS UNDER THE TAIL LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS. THE ORIGINAL ENGINE WAS REBUILT AT SOME POINT IN TIME SO IT STILL HAS THE 57HP SINGLE PORT ENGINE WITH THE 85.5 MM CYLINDERS. THE FLOOR PANS ARE ORIGINAL AND HAVE NEVER BEEN CHANGED. THERE IS MINIMAL PROBLEMS WITH THEM AND WOULD NOT ADVISE DOING ANYTHING TO THEM. THE RUNNING BOARDS WERE REPLACED BY ME WITH OEM GERMAN BOARDS . THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM HAS BEEN REDONE BY ME. I PULLED THE ENGINE AND PUT ALL NEW SEALS IN IT INCLUDING PUSH ROD TUBE, OIL COOLER SEALS, FLYWHEL SEAL AND "O" RING. I ALSO PUT AN ORIGINAL GERMAN MUFFLER WITH FLARED GUTTED PIPES FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE. IT ALSO HAS NEW CARB, FUEL PUMP ETC. I WOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO GO ANYWHERE IN THIS CAR. I ALSO PUT IN NEW CLUTC, PRESSURE PLATE, AND RELEASE BEARING. CAR COMES WITH BOOT FOR TOP . I HAVE PUT THE TOP BACK ONCE AND DO BELIEVE THAT THE TOP MAY ACTUALLY BE THE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR WHICH IS ALMOST UNHEARD OF. RADIO MAY NEED A SPEAKER AS IT DOES NOT PLAY BUT THAT IS MINOR STUFF. CAR ORIGINALLY HAD AIR ON IT BUT THE COMPRESSOR HAS BEEN REMOVED . AUTO HAS HE EXTREMELY RARE EMPI HOOD AIR SCOOP WHICH IS WORTH A LOT. STEERING WHEEL WAS ADDED AT THE DEALERSHIP IN 1970 ONLY AND IS EXTREMELY RARE AND THE ONLY ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN THIS CONDITION PROBABLY WORTH MAYBE $500.00.VEHICLE HAS BEEN PAINTED ONE TIME MANY YEARS AGO. I COULD GO ON BUT ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL 336-824-4440 AND ASK FOR THE BUGMAN. LOCAL PICK UP IS BEST AND BALANCE TO BE PAID IN CASH ONLY. OVERALL VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN FULLY RESTORED BUT JUST FELT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. THE BEST OF A DAILY DRIVER AND SUPER NICE ALSO. I WOULD APPRAISE THIS CAR AT WELL OVER $20,000.00 AND A GOOD BUY AT THAT. THIS IS ONE OF ONLY A HANDFUL THAT IS REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA AND BEING DRIVEN.
