Description

Meyers Manx clone was recently restored within the past year using a shortened floor pan from a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle as the foundation. The original Manx came out in 1964 so this is a very early clone and has great lines. This ultimate Southern California surf mobile is powered by an air-cooled 1,600cc single-port flat-four and four-speed manual transaxle.

The engine was fully serviced less than 2k miles ago. New; connecting rods and bearings, piston rings, intake and exhaust valves, fuel hoses, alternator belt, electric fuel pump, re-jetted carb, new points and condenser, flywheel and much more. The transaxle was serviced and had; new clutch, T/O bearing, shifter, cables, axle boots, axle seals, new fluids added less than 2k miles ago as well. The engine and trans work great, run smooth and have plenty of power. The suspension and steering were lubricated, replaced upper and lower ball joints, repacked wheel bearings and 4 wheel alignment. The steering coupler bushing replaced and all issues addressed. New brake master cylinder, new brake fluid, and shoes on all four corners. The car has been converted over to a 12-volt system and had a red top optima battery added as well.

The single-stage paint was done years ago and shows some signs of wear and cracking, but still has a great shine and a cool vintage look as can be seen in the pics. The vintage Daytona style gas cap was polished and looks great. The interior was recently done in black vinyl, new carpet kit and flip-top seatbelts were added for safety. New adjustable front seats with optional headrest and re-upholstered rear bench in black vinyl look great. New chrome front and rear bumpers really make it pop on the road. Vintage racing steering wheel. The original windshield has some cracks and chips from its previous life, please see photos. The central speedometer/odometer works and shows just under 2k miles (was re-clocked after the rebuilt engine and trans). New led front turns signals were added as well as high and low beam headlights. The body also has a large vintage buggy antenna with a tiger tail marker, which is a real crowd-pleaser at car shows.

Manx sits on smoothies 15″ x 6″ front and 15″ x 9″ rear. The vintage wheels are mounted on a new staggered set of tires 205/60/R15 upfront and 31/9.5/R15 in the rear which gives it the stance it has.

This car was built to be a clean, fun, vintage driver that is super dependable. A front axle tow bar, unrestored hard top roof and an extra set of wheels are included (see photo). This car has been used to attend car shows and surfing events all over So-Cal.It’s recently done a few 150 mile round trips with no issues and it cruises at 60mph. It runs cool even in LA stop and go traffic. It’s super fun to drive and will turn heads as you cruise around.
