Description
Hi all, I bought this car from a local Mk2 guy who was going to part it out. I chose to save it because I hate to see these cars crushed when so many people can put so much life into them. With that being said, I've invested more than I'm asking by far (see my ledger) and am really looking for the next owner to be someone who will keep the car running, alive, and thriving. Yes, it's an investment project. However, it's in a good place now for you to take over and make it your own. My current investment, including cost of the car, is up to $2950.40.I can't take less than the auction starting price as whatever I get from this Mk2 will likely go to saving another Mk2 down the road. I've got a problem, I know. Located in Austin, TX. Clear blue Texas title in my name. Specs:
1990 Jetta GLI 16V
Milage: Body has 223K, PO told me Engine has about 80K, Trans 60K. It's a bit of a frankenstein with the engine/trans.
Engine Code: 9A
Transmission Code: CHE
Color Code: L90E (Alpine White)
Interior: Recaro Velour Fabric 9/10
Build Date: 5/90
Interior:
The interior is probably the best part of the car. Original Recaro seats, in good condition, no tears no rips.
I give it a 9/10 because of the common driver's bolster foam. Other than that, it's golden.
Just deep cleaned the carpet.
Dash is also in good condition. It's a bit warped in the middle but only has one small crack near the windshield vent. That's it.
Manual windows all work well
Exterior:
Yeah this car is NOT pretty.
It's not a show stopper, panty dropper.
It's a car that's been saved. Please understand that.
The front fenders have been rolled by PO.
It's got quite a few dents, will need body and paint work.
Goodies:
OEM Smoked Hella Rear Tail Lights
Euro headlights with Red City Light bulb
TT catback and exhaust
TT chip
Weighted shift rod
Bonrath Single Wiper Setup
Corrado steelies with great tires!
No name coilovers, but it has them! Not that bad of a ride either.
OEM Badged Single Round grille from Germany
Badgeless single round grille included if you fancy that better.
Baddies:
The front bumper skin won't stay on. It's included with the car as well as the 16V lip. But like I said, it won't stay on.
The car runs, and is driveable, but I wouldn't drive it away. This is definitely a running project, but running from like here to the corner autozone and back. Not daily status at all.
It's got an air leak somewhere which causes it to run a bit rich. Again, you can drive it and we can go for a spin, but don't expect me to say you can drive it home.
Like I said before, it's not very pretty. Will need body work and paint.

This is everything I bought to get it back up to a fighting stance. It won't need anything from a maintenance point for at least a year.
