1982 VW Rabbit LX diesel pickup with a lot of work already completed on it. I’ve been working on this vehicle for 5 years and need to move on, but a few items need to be finished. What it has now:
1.9L turbo diesel engine (1Y) from Quality German Auto Parts 93,000 miles
Rebuilt turbo Garret K-14
5 speed manual transmission
Rebuilt injector pump from Performance Diesel Injection (Giles)
A/C installed but needsthe electrical connection finished and charged with freon
New: carpet, headliner, front windshield, rear window (sliding), rear stub axles, front drive shafts, front disc brake pads, water pump, 2 speed radiator fan, radiator, Pioneer stereo Model DEH4800BT (needs installed) dash speakers, exhaust system from manifold to tailpipe (catalytic converter, muffler, exhaust pipe and tail pipe 2â€) oil cooler, timing belt, rebuilt injectors, selector rods (transmission shift rods)
Seats were re-upholstered (Vinyl and cloth)
Dash is in excellent shape (no cracks or discoloration)
I lifted the pickup 1 ½" with strut tower lifts and rear axle blocks
Canopy
3 yr old battery
All gauges work
Heavy duty alternator 120amps
E G gauge
Turbo boost gauge
Strut towers are solid with no rust. In fact, there is very little rust anywhere, except for some small surface rust spots.
Fuel tank removed, cleaned and resealed inside and out.
Home-made rear bumper from 4x4 steel tubing.
Clear title
Mileage on chassis is unknown.
I had intended to repaint the entire vehicle, along with the canopy and have the material to do so ( stripper, primer, base coat and clear coat) but cannot do that now. I also have a great many “spare†parts that will go with the pickup.
I also have some tools that I used in the refurbishing process that I’ll throw in. Homemade “pop†tester for injectors, timing tools (locking plate, pump locking pin, dial indicator timing tool) mechanical valve adjustment tool, Haynes and Bentley Service manuals, original owner’s manual and much more.
